I would, but I don't have a C702 to answer you.
No worries, you'll get an answer.

If you set the single icon menu type. Instead of boxes along the right side, you get little icons. Makes this view much more usable imho.

I would say yes to your decision - as I have just done the same... the K850 is a such a bore to me... the C702 with the latest R3CA037 fw seems to be much better, not to mention GPS and water and dust resistant...

You should be able to change the menu layout when going to Menu>Settings>Display>Main menu layout
Change it to signle-icon view and if you can't see these small icons on the side, then you'll have to wait for a firmware update, yes.

I had the black for a couple of weeks, a bit dull looking imo, the blue is better, not in pics, but in RL.

i see both at work every day. i prefer the black. though the blue is quite nice.

Well, there is a reason i only used this device for 2 weeks, the keypad is awful imo, very hard to press and slippery keys, and the cover over the lcd was terribel outside in the sun, hard to see anything.
A funny thing, my T650 had a mineral glass over it's lcd, but a rugged device like 702 doesn't, pretty funny i say.

Hi, two things: how water resistant is the phone when laying in a small pool of water (think open canoe during a bad rain storm or something similar)

And, more importantly, since I can get my hands on a dummy model in 'the other colour', how difficult would it be for a non-techie to remove the housing and put on another one? ara:

Hi Vlamm,

Long time no see! I hope all is well.

Firstly, I don't doubt my c702 can withstand a heavy rain shower as it already has once or twice this week (damn british weather), although i'm not too sure about it being left in a puddle of water and i don't think you'd want to drop it over the side of the canoe unless you got it out of the water pretty quick. After all is is only really splash proof... Having said that i there's pics of some guy washing his under the tap, after getting it dirty, here on the forum somewhere (maybe earlier in this thread).

As for changing the housings... unless it was professionally done in a service centre or the like I would be very wary of how water proof it would be once you had re-assembled it due to the amount of O-ring seals and what not that would have to be carefully replaced.

Hope this helps... Maybe there's someone out there that has already changed the housing and knows how safe it is to do so?

Cheers

Burgaz

EDIT: Pics of the c702 getting washed on this page...
