I think it has a light sensor that varies the backlight brightness according to environment. That's why. [addsig]

Received my sandy beige K770 today!

It is beautiful and doesn't look cheap (costs less than 250€ on ebay though ).
The phone feels good in the hand and the build quality seems ok; the ergonomy is excellent (doesn't change much from my previous mobile, the K750), except for the shutter and +/- buttons which are too hard to press.
The d-pad is "pefect" (all the directions and the ok button are easy to press), I just hope it will last longer then the joysticks. Also love the backlight and the design of the keypad.
The screen looks very good (yes, it could have been a bit bigger, but it doesn't bother me) and I love the improved resolution (over my old K750).
The menus are fast and the interface hasn't changed much, but there are little improvements everywhere.

I'm very satisfied with what I've seen so far...

Will post some pictures to show the camera quality tomorrow or this week-end, don't have time for that now... but I didn't buy it for taking pictures because I don't expect much from such a small sensor and lens (have a dslr camera for that, you can see some of my pictures here btw: http://www.flickr.com/people/lazar).

Guys, anyone here experiences this problem?
My K770 (R8BA024) is not recognize by google and opera when I try to download google maps or opera mini. It says something like the system cannot identify the type of the phone. Both google and opera gave the option to download the software anyway, but the download process is stuck in about 50% or more and cannot continue.
Is it firmware matters?
Thanks.

Just got my K770i but noticed that the keypad doesn't appear to light up... it only seems to light up when the camera is on - is this how it should be???

^ I don't think that's normal.

I just got mine yesterday.

There are two sets of backlight on mine. When you are using it as a fone, the backlight on the keys are white and lights up the numbers.

When you activate the camera, the white light turns off and the blue ones light up under the camera icons on the outer keys.

My k770 reminds me so much of my k750. Very happy with the keypads, d-pad, and navigation in general. Looks stable enough tho its not even 24 hours since I bought it. Battery's factory charge ain't even drained yet.

Altho I notice that the loading screen animation seems a bit choppy. Does any of you get that?

Also, the back casing does not fit perfectly and moves a bit.

Anyone know any tricks or things you can do with the phone that are not in the manual?

So, i'v got mine now. Its working great. Exept one problem. When i put it in quite mode everything should be quite, right? but my camera sound still is on. Its quite enoying.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I remember seeing a "shutter sound" option when I was in the settings of the camera mode. Maybe you can check that out. I left my phone at home so I can't check right now.

Sorry, I haven't had time to search this thread, but has the "Henna Bronze" version of the K770i been released yet? I was just trawling the SE site today and noticed this image has been added since yesterday!

I then checked the SE K770i page on the SE site and theres no mention.

So here it is:

EDIT: Ok, I'm pretty sure it hasn't yet been mentioned. Don't believe me?

It doesn't sell here. But perhaps the Ultraviolet version is exclusive to that network?

In Germany, I've only once seen an Ultra Violet one. That was at a provider's shop, Debitel. Vodafone sells the Sandy Beige one here, all others only Truffle Brown.
