P990 firmware organizer R4B03 discussion |

Guys,
I upgraded to R4B03 and I am repenting my decision. The phone seem to crash more often than before and I don't see any frigging improvement in this release. I shouldn't have upgraded so soon.
Earliar I could go on without crashes for weeks but with the new firmware it crashed 4 times already in 1 week. Today, the phone froze while recording a video, the other day TomTom froze the phone.
I am pissed.
Is there anyway to get the previous version of the fw? |

Most of the issues that have been found with the FW are due to "bad" installs of the FW, which occur because the connection between you and EMMA for SEUS is not anywhere near perfect, due to the volume sof users.
Therefore some data is lost or just poorly installed, and a full reformat usually sorts the issue, usually requiring updating again, but hey it works.
The benefit to having tools to do this whether you are retail based or just for personal use, is the massive reduction in active users and also the perfect sonnection between phone and tool, to make for a very stable connection.
Not every install is always perfect and sometimes they need to be done again, but it doesn't take that long and it's worth it to have a much improved FW.

Also, restoring backups from an earlier firmware version can make your phone crash more often. You should reflash and reset all settings manually. (Use the phone's built in function for backing up contacts, calendar and tasks.)
Personally, I'm having no problems at all with this FW.

Hi,
I also switched to Generic World 1 (cominig from CDA162008/87) with the help of the Kulankedi client. But my Phone is now R9EC001 as it should. I formated the internal drive and did a master reset before the CDA change and a second time right after it. Then I upgraded via SEUS and received Phone R9EC001 and Organizer R4B03 as expected. I did only a restore of contacts, calendar, notes and messages.
Maybe you should try ro reformat, master reset, update again and take a look at the versions right after the upgrade?
Many greetings

I updated the pc suite to the newest version and my back up is still within the suite but it shows as my phone not connected. The PCSuite is no less buggy than the P990 OS. First, you can safely remove the additional com ports if you are using USB connection.
When you get the windows message that the device was not installed properly, open the "Device Manager" and find under "Universal Serial Bus Connectors" 2 items for the P990. If you see only one, no problem. Just uninstall it, then take out the USB cable and reconnect, the system should go through the routine of installing USB drivers and you should see 2 items in the "Universal Serial Bus Connectors" and 2 under "Ports" clearly identified as P990 stuff. You may have to repeat this process several times until it works.
Several months ago I downloaded a newer version of m-router but since then the company seems to have closed shop and the download is no longer available. See if you can find "mRouter3Installer_v31042.exe" (8.29 MB) on the web. Just keep trying the routine above, eventually it works

Are you confusing the P990 with the P900? For P990 the cable connects through USB, with or without the stand. If you connect your P990 to your PC using PCSuite and the 2 icons on the taskbar indicate that your phone is connected, all you need to do is use the synchronize button for accessing your data in outlook, even works with office 2007. You may need to go into the setup to determine how to handle the backup, i.e. contacts, notes, calendar and tasks.

After the update my 4 icons on the start board are starting to behave funny. After a while if I click at for example the menu icon it looks normal, but if i return to the desktop that icon is missing. Then I click at another one and then return to the desktop. That one is also missing, but the menu button is back and so on.
Anyone else who have noticed this? |

For me this last firmware version is definitly worst than the previous. Now my phone sometimes freezes when i make a call and when i change themes. Also when i take a photo it takes about 20seconds to be able to take another!! I never had this problems and did not restore any backup so or is this crapy firmware fault or SEUS update fault and i already update the phone 3 times and made a internal disc format. |

guys i have downloaded the latest F/W and 90% of the bugs listed here i didn't notice so i think you should reupdating your phones again with stable connection and with firewall off and don't forget to not restore the backedup data in the previous F/W i found even restoring only contacts will bring previous bug to appear..

Update my phone again... now it seems that there are no freezes when calling to someone and after applying themes. The only issue remaining is on the damn camara. When i take a photo it takes 4or5 times more than with the previous firmware to be able to delete it or take another. I believe that its all SEUS fault. It downloaded and installed the update very fast( in about 15min i had the update complete)... a lot less than the previous firmware. dont know if this is normal.... :S |

I've always been a strong supporter of the P990, and I've defended it since day one. And since that time, we've always said, "I'm sure it will be fixed in the next firmware." Well I just recently took a look back at the old threads where we started reporting bugs and problems, and I have found that I still have most of the same issues.
I am very pleased that SE have addressed most of the memory and speed problems, but I'm disappointed at the same time that they have failed to fix many of the original bugs. Luckily, I've adapted to such problems, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be fixed.
The main reason I bring this up is because I was somewhat shocked when the video recordings still didn't match up with the audio after this most recent update. Video recording is practically useless, and it's just unbelievable that this hasn't been addressed. My other big gripe is the standby screen, which is also relatively pointless since it has no customizable options (like M600, etc.).
I know SE has a lot on their plate with new phones and such, but it would be nice to see a few noticeable changes other than "supposed" speed enhancements and subjective improvements. |

Hi all,
Please don't all jump down my throat as i really am NOT an SE hater or basher but really just how many times on a 6 month old device are you expected to have to reformat the phone do a master reset and reload the latest firmware. Whilst still not actually being able to make a back and restore either for fear of bugs reappearing which each time means you have to start from the beginning and re input everything yet again. Then to only find that the PC suite or M-Router is no longer working, and yes i know some of you experience none of these problems but as this thread is already 17 pages long in 11 days and is full of people with lots of problems don't you think this is ever so slightly ridiculous for what is meant to be a flagship device with what is it 4 or 5 firmware updates so far. It can't all be user error either can it? I really feel sorry for so many of you that expected and deserved so much better for an expensive piece of equipment. Is it really any wonder the price is now heading below £200 for a P990 and the M600 down to about £150 and not much more than £200 for a W950. Ares I'm dieing to here your explanation of whats gone wrong and how you support your claims that SE are getting it right because from an outsiders point of view it sure don't look like it to me. Especially the latest one on the W950 that after the last update no longer supports Bluetooth 2.0 just what in the world is going on @SE. Ericsson used to build and supply quality equipment SE are not in the same league at the moment they may design pretty phones that have great specs but they are seriously flawed.
