Well the lighting affects are supposed to look better on the white one. Although like you say it is an odd colour. I think I prefer black because white is just too bright and I think it looks more plasticy. I had a black W900, then a white W900 and I always prefered the black, besides the white got grubby quickly.

the white one only has the lighting affect doesnt it. The black one just has the little orange bar under the screen. The white also has this, but you cannot see it properly due to the other lights, but it stands out in the black, which i like......i liked the black w900 too....

Ha ha, arent we just! Well I dont think they have/will change the firmware for the white one, I think that due to the materials used the affects look different.
Here you can see the black one lit up:
Whereas here is the white:
Which is why I believe it is the materials that make the difference.

that last pic you posted coxy are both of white phones just with different lighting colours. It seems the black will just have lights surrounding the centre keypad........ |

Yes I knew that!  Yeah so basically the black will have four lights and the bar, whereas the white will have the four lights and the bar, but also th ewhole navigation area will light up.
Now im stuck on which to get 
Any my girlfriend wants a white W810, so do I go black (contrast) or white (like she says, for matching) Decisions, decisions. I guess only time will tell when I have them both! 
On a side note, I wonder what the packaging will be like? I'd love the W800/W900 packaging to make a reappearance!

as its se first slider, i can expect the special W packaging.
Well you have had black m600i, k800, w810, w900 etc,so i think you will be more happy with the black, and then you can just hand down the white one to me haha
i will need to see both next to eachother of retail versions, so when you have them, post pics and it will help me decide.... |

Yeah suppose so, but then black is common, whereas white isnt and is out of the ordinary. But grubby, greasey, oily (my mates especially) hands wont like it one bit!

Even without autofocus I think the pics taken by th eW850 are acceptable. Also remember these are tester units, not full retail versions.

yes the cam is very decent for no auto focus. Looks better than d600 cam photos.
Yeah i have seen these photos, i think they both look good, ill prob go for black.
The back side of the phone looks better in black, and i still dont like the grey around the screen on white, full white would have looked better. |

Ya see THIS phone has my name with UPGRADE ALL over it.
BUT 3 things will keep me at bay (besides just owning a W810i - loving it)
1) No 3G for North America (Canada is going nationwide with HSDPA VERY SOON and its on Ericsson hardware/switching platform)!! Huge oversight. I thought the merger between Ericsson/Sony would be on the up & up for potential sales partnerships with providers for things like this. Rogers currently carry's: SE W550/600, z520 (previously the Z500), w810i, w300i, and soon the K790!
2) The large select buttons look awefully horrible. I'd get bored of the look of the SE (and yes we users LOOK at our SE's quite a bit). I just may be vain here ... my wife calls my phone "the Mistress". LMAO!
3) The direction buttons of minutea! way TOO small! Over short order I can hear complaints over the buttons more so than the joystick winers that used the joystick to wack off the phone!
DONT LET THIS STOP YOU ALL FROM BUYING IT PLEASE! Enough sales means SE will make a revision of a slider shortly.

Well ill buy from a hk seller, easier for me to make payments. it makes no difference to me as x1387 gets their phonesfrom there anyway....
