So finaly hit up the Download! app and it updated itself to Ovi Store, and its absolutely fantastic! What in the world are people complaining about??? busy browsing it right now on a normal GPRS connection and its working just fine, very smooth, fast and easy, nothing like that awful Download! app. This has to be the millionth time ive listened to a bunch of people on the net and almost missed out on something good, just because its not like Fruit and the App Store of the fruit phone. Downloading an app is simple especialy since i already had an Ovi account. Theres loads of apps, some i had no idea even exsisted for S60, such as Point&Find, just point the camera of your phone to something like a movie poster and it finds info on it. Busy looking at free Apps like the fact they have a discription and screenshot(s) there so you know what its all about. Overall im impressed, it doesnt look like the fruit's Appstore but its just as good IMO, cant say which is better, both are just realy convenient to have,i cant realy complain to be honest, just dont get what people didnt like about it.

i have to disagree with you on the ovi store. when i first used it, it was not too bad but after experiencing the android market, i cant believe how much i dislike the ovi store.

but each to his own, and i dont believe the ovi store is b ad, its just not for me.

Taken from The Register:

'Android to overtake iPhone in 2012 - analyst
Symbian still on top, but BlackBerry down

9th October 2009

Google’s Android will have more than quadrupled its market share by the end of 2012, market watcher Gartner has claimed. But Symbian looks set to remain the dominant smartphone OS for several years to come.

Android’s market share stood at a paltry 1.6 per cent during Q1 2009, but will grow to 14.5 per cent by the time Q4 2012 rolls around, Gartner forecast, based on an estimated 522m smartphones shipping worldwide during the period.

As a result, Android will move from its current position as the sixth most popular operating system for smartphones to become the second most popular, Gartner said.

The main reason for Android’s market share growth will, Gartner VP Ken Dulaney told website AppleInsider, be because “unlike Apple, they [Google] license their OS to multiple OEMs”.

Dulaney said many handset makers are betting their futures on Android, while Apple is just one company.

Speaking of Apple, its share of the smartphone OS market will also grow - but only from 10.8 per cent to 13.7 per cent, Gartner said.

Symbian will remain the most popular OS. However, its market share will drop from 49.3 per cent during Q1 2009 to 39 per cent by Q4 2012.

Research in Motion’s BlackBerry OS is currently the second most popular handset OS, Gartner said, with a Q1 2009 market share of 19.9 per cent. But it will slip to fifth place by Q4 2012 with market share of just 12.5 per cent.

Windows Mobile's share will grow from 10.3 per cent to 12.8 per cent during the same quarters, Gartner added, which will see it remain as the fourth most popular phone-based OS.'

Well you guys, I have to admit, every time I use this Android powered monster of an HTC dream, I fall in love with it even more.

I love the easy way of customisation, I love the ease of use, I love the speed, I love everything.

If any one of you are considering a new phone, no matter what brand, I would reconmend taking the Android powered one.

As far as i can tell, the phone has on average about 30MB of free ram, when that gets down to 16MB (which is not easy) it starts closing unused background apps. Even with less than 20MB of free ram, this phone is not lagging.
In the 2 weeks I had it, I cant remember it lagging once.

Go Android!

@Gucci I kinda have to agree with Rhino when it comes to Ovi store.Nothing wrong with it at all but Ive just been spoilt I guess with my Fruitstore. Wish they had more free stuff appwise. It might grow into something spectacular in the future, but for now, nah,as Rhino says,'not my cup of tea.' but nice for people who spend cash Im sure on apps and own a Nokia handset.

@Rhino Im so sick of all this Android talk (habit picked up by Gucci) lol No,Im only joking bud.Im always keen to hear user experiences of the as Wanga stated earlier, the Dark Horse Android that is going to conquer all before it.I personally would love Symbian to be dethroned or at least challenged.49% market share.Screw that.We want a more competetive market I say.Im still punting Apple.I feel the way about the iPhone the way Rhino his Dream and I dont even have the 3GS version.Glad you loving your HTC Dream.

I still dont think its fair to compare the iphone with android or android with s60 or whatever the comparison.

apples vs apples works, not apples with pears (or androids)

I have never used an iphone, and i dont think anyone can make a fair comparison without using all.
