Can you believe the apps on my iPhone are taking up a half a gig of storage space.Monster sized buggers. And Ive still got 7-9 more home screens to fill up.The 16GB 3G and 32GB 3GS are looking a better bet at the moment.

If Nokia could give me an E-series, QWERTY, touchscreen maemo phone built in E71 quality but styled much better- hmmm... maybe not on styling unless the designers were from SE- with a better battery, same resolution as the N900 then I would stop myself from getting the Blackberry next year and get a Nokia for the first time in my life. I actually feel I made a good decision by going to Android after UIQ, poor symbian.
After Blackberry I'll get acquainted with Android around June next year. HTC, Motorola and SE are in the running for my money but SE are at the forefront because they are still my favourite after all their bungles. Htc would be number 2 but if any of the 3 give something super cool and well specced then all bets are off.
One thing's certain, Blackberry (unless Nokia obliges me) and Android are what I'll be using next year.

The Nokia N97 has dropped in price at some of the independent retailers. Play.com's price is now 439.99 (approx R5800):

Im patiently waiting for NOKIA World. Im still prepared to get an S60, because unlike SE, NOKIA support their phones for +24months FW and software wise. Would be awesome if they made an affordable 5800xm type Maemo device though that would totaly seal my upgrade next year.

Yeah I wonder what Nokia will do with Maemo as regards mid-range markets. Do they keep it exclusive to high end phones (like the older Communicators exclusively had the defunct S80), or allow Maemo to run alongside/co-exist with the myriad of S60 platform devices in their same (mid) range?
If they did the latter, would S60 eventually fall by the wayside as regards new development? I'm not saying close S60 at all as there's obviously millions of handsets that have all manner of S60 apps for years to come; I'm just wondering about the dynamics of having 2 very different platforms in the same Nokia bed...
Will they remain totally autonomous or will the other older one lose favour? Wonder what Nokia's forecasted strategies are as regards this.

Another P1i pic, VGA size pic setting, indoor macro mode with flash on and light setting down to avoid over-exposure:

This evening went with a bunch of friends to watch District9...none of them were sci-fi fans but left the cinema pretty impressed. What I liked about the film was the many funny moments as well as the fast pace @ which the story evolved.
Wickus van der Merwe's dialogue is so funny, some of the punchlines only South Africans would know. Funniest line is, when Wickus talks about MNU security agents: "They shoot first and get the answers later".

LMAO, speaking of District 9, this is hayibo.com's take on its impact in SA :
South Africans thank District 9 makers for new insights into xenophobia
JOHANNESBURG. South Africans say that District 9 has taught them that xenophobia is bad, adding that without the sci-fi blockbuster they might never have understood that setting foreigners on fire is upsetting to them. "You only really understand something when you see it translated through the medium of high-budget special effects," explained one former xenophobe.
District 9 has stunned international audiences, many of whom had no idea that Johannesburg was so ugly, and it has been praised for confronting current South African realities like xenophobia, racism, high-explosive weaponry, and the fact that Gauteng is literally the worst place in the universe to get stranded in.
However local audiences have conceded that the film has been more than Hollywood entertainment, and have credited it with teaching them that murderous xenophobia is "wrong".
According to South Africans who saw advance screenings this week, District 9 had managed to help them see the humanity in otherwise "degenerate crustacean-like auslanders".
"Special effects blockbusters have always been crucial in helping us gain insight into the human condition," explained one viewer.
"Seeing people explode really makes you value the small things in life. For example, everything I know about love and loyalty I learned from Transformers."
Another fan echoed his sentiments, saying that he had only truly understood the concept of self-sacrifice "when Bruce Willis blew himself up on the asteroid".
According to most audience members, District 9's subtle metaphors and existential questions had hit home.
"We saw those prawns and someone said, 'Hey, it looks like that Rwandan guy from the corner shop!'" said one viewer. "We all laughed because it was true. And then we realised, hey, that Rwandan guy didn't ask to be born a prawn.
"And we got really sad."
Audiences said that the film would make them treat foreigners with "a lot more respect".
"Except if they try to muscle in on our movie industry," said one. "If they try to do that we'll probably set them on fire."
