Calles SE-UK today. SEUS up with R1N035. O2 have barred SEUS. The woman I spoke to said SEUS had been disabled for O2 updates for months! - now I know this is untrue - because I have done it! SE offered to flash my phone to R1N if I take to service centre. Reading current posts - I would be daft to do so.

@O2 K750i

Here in the UK I think it cant be that bad....

I recon a little investigation is worth the trouble...

I doubt SE service centers would be that bad.... I am going to one soon just as I have an e-mail back from SE regarding the policies and quality of service for walk in and post in customers... [addsig]

@Leviath

SE mentioned two walk in centres in Herts and ?london? (not sure) and a post service to Oxford. Max post turn around is 10 days. She couldn't tell me why SE would flash an O2 phone but O2 have barred the updates. I think I will call O2 tomorrow. It would be interesting to see what the Cheesecake has to say. I'm thinking the phone would return de-customised to remove the branding. Agree with earlier posts - it is likely to be the branding that £$% up the software.

@O2 K750i,

Just had a nice 90 minute chat with O2's technical services department. They know nothing of R1N035 firmware for the K750i, and state that "R1L002 is the latest approved firmware on the O2 network for the K750i..."

However, I've got BT issues with a HBH-610 headset and states that "R1N035 fixes the issue."

After stating that the HBH-610 works fine on other phones, O2 are going to contact tomorrow and get back to me by midday. Will keep you folks informed.

(Look ma, no Leviathisms!)

BTW, O2's Technical Services Department didn't know about SEUS... Sorta fills you full of hope, yes?

Thanks to the Cheesecake - will wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Rather than send the phone to SE it may be better to use Davinci to de-brand the phone. Will ponder this as last time I did my K500 (since departed when the wife left it on top of the car) the phone was a pain to use on the Orange network. I believe the branding is there to interface with the network in the most user friendly way - it just botches the rest of the phone up.

same here bin ranting bout it for days, anyway i guess u havnt read the last few pages coz i worked a way around it, not a complete solution but bearable if u just use ur ms for mp3s, pop em in the 'mp3' folder instead and DONT open the 'media files' folder ur files should all stay put, anythin else u wanna add will just av to go on fone n then be moved to external memory if u need the fone space. coz it now seems to me its something to do wid the media folder as soon as u drop a pic or mp3 bang u get wiped. would appreciate it if others wid the same problem could try what i said? mp3's into mp3 folder, then disconnect basically lol.

I've just been on to O2 twice regarding the sudden blocking of SEUS. Both operators had never heard of SEUS. Both put me on hold to consult their team leaders... and both told me to contact SE as it was nothing to do with O2!

Hahah, nice to see O2 are still up to their old trick of passing the buck wherever possible...

Hi

I have a K750I on Orange in the U.K. & I am running the R1N035 firmware.

I too started suffering the file transfer lose after this upgrade but have since fixed the problem.

Formatting the memory stick via Windows using the USB cable & then uploading my files again has fixed the problem & sorted out the media player not playing files issue too.

I still have the strange blue bars flashing across the screen when im transferring files between the pc & phone via the USB cable problem though.

There is a way to get thru to the technical services department @ O2....

  • Ring up O2 customer services.
  • Tell them you've got a SE BT headset that doesn't work with your O2 K750i. (Paired okay, drops connection after x number of minutes even during a call. Headset can be HBH-662, HBH-660, HBH-610)
  • Then tell them that SE stated over the phone via their Customer Services that firmware R1N035 fixes the BT issue. (Which they have to me)
  • Then tell them that you can't upgrade your phone via SE's online upgrade service as it appears to be blocked by O2.
  • This should get you thru to the Technical Dept.
  • Tell them the same thing.
  • This should then get you thru to the Technical Services Dept. At this point you should get an O2 issue raised which means you should get an reply from the holy grail of O2, i.e. the Technical Development Team (the folks that confirm firmware for phones...)

Fun, eh?!

(Of course I could just post the direct number to the TDT @ O2 but as the TDT are refusing to talk to me now that might not be a good idea! )

as some of you know after many painstaking hours and a couple of days my phone upgraded to R1N and worked fine... some time ago anyways after about a week from the upgrade I noticed my phone stopped ringing, the speaker plainly did not work even in the service test, I decided that the speaker died so I took it to a repair shop, after that they told me that nothing was wrong with the speaker and that they did a firmware downgrade to R1L because R1N was known to have serious issues and sony pulled it out and advised S.E. centers to revert back to R1L,

true enough the speaker now works,

now what I don't get is why did it work fine for a week then die on me ;(

I believe what you are saying - it is what I am told...BUT...
If O2 have never heard of SEUS then WHY have O2 blocked SEUS. You cannot block something if you do not know it is there. Chickens & Eggs or maybe all your eggs in the SE basket.

You guys seen the D600 - SE blow your knickers off - Samsung have a better reputation and now they have 2MP!!!!!!!!!! Byeeeee...
