Hmm, it seems to have resolved itself. I turned the phone on this morning and it worked. Last night it worked if I turned off the 3G network and stayed on 2G, but this morning I went back on the 3G and I can call out again. Happy now.

This is not totally uncommon. It happens to me as well sometimes. I have to use GSM services and then all the features work. However if I switch to 3G, I can not make or receive calls. This is more than likely an operator issue. Your phone was probably fine all the time but it was coincidental that you had problems.

will it be possible for future apps to be able to record FM signals? will the phone be able to allow such programs?

How do you actually turn off the 3g signal without losing GPRS as well?

GPRS runs on the GSM system so you won't lose it by turning 3G off.

you can also switch the phone to Circuit-switched mode only which turns GPRS off, and only turns it on as needed as opposed to having it on all the time.

Do you mean radio stations or FM signals in general?

To create such a program could open up the vender to copyright infringement problems, as copying such "FM signals" would in most cases be against the law as the copied material would be subject to someone's approval. Second, where would these signals be stored once copied? Third, the only software that could be used (I could be wrong here), would have to be written in Java most likely and at the end of the day, Java is slow and not the most stable even on these phones. Fourth, why would anyone want to record signals in the first place as the quality would be crap.

I think baste07 is talking about the possibility of TrackID on K800i as it is found on W850-W950..it would be wonderful to record songs from radio and then send it to GraceNote server to get its ID..maybe, any alternative way to do so?

It's about time that R1EJ is released on SEUS or not. No need to hurry..it can be anytime soon or later..or even never..we have this stable R1ED, right?

Hey Aremaboy. How are you?

Regarding the capture of copyrighted material, even if it is on the radio has legal ramifications and I am sure that SE will not go down that road. Which is the reason behind Apple not allowing radio stream capture via their radio device for the iPod. This is a non-starter idea. You have to remember that the data streamed via the radio belongs to the artist and possibly the radio station that is broadcasting it.

Hi,

New to the forum so forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere.

My phone is an unbranded k800i with R1CA018 firmware which sounds like it's waaaaaaaay out of date.

SEUS, however, tells me that there are no updates available.

The phone doesn't have the Settings | Update menu item either.

Does anyone know which firmware SEUS is currently downloading for unbranded phones, and why SEUS doesn't work for my phone?

Thanks
jk

I have the exact same problem. Bought an early, unbranded K800i, firmware version is R1CB001. The SUES still tells me that there are no updates available. My CDA version is CDA102511/2 so there should be an update available according to the info on the first page of this thread.

I also have no Settings>General>Update menu.

Anyone have any ideas?

My phone shows a manufacture date of 06W24. What does yours say Yellow160? You'll find it on the barcode sticker behind the battery (which you'll have to take out to see it).

Cheers.

@PhoenixRising

Mine has a date of 06/23. Are you near a SE svc ctr? If so, take it there and see if they can upgrade it. The upgrade should be part of the menu system as well as being supported in the user manual. In fact, check this and see if it mentions the OTA Upgrade.

In what region did you purchase your phone?

@sapporobaby:
Hi. I'm just fine. I haven't been as industrious as before just because there are no new findings of the latest K800i firmware. Later, when SEUS releases new f/w, I'll be here for most of time..thank you.

Some K800i don't have FOTA feature. They are mostly branded..I don't know why. Maybe wotanserver is the way out?
