As to your believe of a duff batch trust me... I had 3 K750i' now all failed for something or other...
So if you dont believe it then oh well... Dont then...
My K750i's all O2 branded/locked... Maybe that's the difference

I think you have hit the nail on the head there.
The majority of these firmware bugs are probably not se's fault, its probably down to the network branding stuffing up the phone.
When the K700 first came out I bought one on O2 (branded) and the thing would not even stay turned on for 10 minutes without restarting itself. So that went straight back and I bought an unbranded one which had no problems at all.
Since then I have had a S700 (unbranded) and now the K750 (unbranded) which have had no problems.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky few, I don't know, however I do believe that the network branding should be blamed for a lot of this.

I have downgraded my firmware to R1L002. Now transferring files using USB cable works fine!

@Del
Quite rightly so....
I am pretty sure this branding is gouing to have some sort of impact with the f/w and the way it all communicates with the phone.....
I would gladly blame the bugs on the Network operators but I cant believe SE have not covered those angles since its them that allow this to be done in the first place....

Well when I bought my S700 I had to change network from T-moile to O2 as t-mob said that there was problems with the S700 firmware and they would not be providing it on their network.
Yet I have since given it to my wife who is on t-mob and the handset works perfectly. The handset is unlocked, so that leads me to believe that the problems are down to the networks branding.
However se obviously want maximum sales so they release a handset unbranded which they believe to be working properly to the networks, and in turn the networks will only release it if they can brand them.
At that point any problems with firmware become the networks problems and not se's.
It's a bit of a catch 22 situation.
As for me I will probably never buy another branded handset untill these sort of issues are resolved.

well my fone is orange branded n my m8 on o2 unbranded has the same damn file disapearin prob since R1N also. yes 'duff' fones do get purchased n more often than not the batch is pulled back n customers get a replacement, so if my fone was dodjy wen i got it it wud av gone straight back, but the fact is the thing worked perfect for 3 months rite up until i put R1N on it, theres even posts here sayin SE admit to this problem being R1N related! so some ppl have no probs n some do, its one of them things! if its down to branding then excuse me 4 bein a little bit pissed off but SE should test sw releases on both sim free and locked n branded phones b4 putting it up for us to find the bugs ourselfs! doesnt really matter now i worked a way around the prob n i can live with dat till SE wake up.

I gave a right "Leviath-ing" yesterday; yes their developers work Saturdays. I'm not worried about camera / video or anything like that. Its the ferking fact that their new BT headset - the HBH-610 - doesn't bloody work with the K750i!
What's ferking more I tested the HBH-610 before release and it worked fine. The release headset has firmware pre-dates the firmware I tested.
Monday morning I am going to nuke them. Not only verbally, I'm going to force them to recall the headset in Europe.
(Sorry Leviath old bean for the "Leviath-ing" gag! You know I don't mean it...)

I thought it was quite a compliment - while you are at it could you also mention the HBH600. Oh and maybe they can all work at home on Sunday. |

Sorry del but my k750 hasnt had network operators hands all over it and is completely unbranded. I upgraded to R1N a couple of weeks ago and over this weekend half of my photos and videos are now corrupt and unreadable! So naturally ive now backed up everything on the MS that is still intact!
I could accept other bugs the phone has had but I think its completely unacceptable when users personal files are being destroyed! Dont they test the firmware before releasing it? it took them bloody long enough.
I beginning to lose my patience with SE...
(does anyone know if it is possible to make these files readable again?)

Same here. My k750i is completely unbranded and the R1N firmware has caused file corruption, data loss when transferring files, reboots, hangs and, a minor irritant, the picture messaging video no longer stops at 10secs so I occasionally create vids I can't send due to their size. Humph.
Emails from SE just tell me to take my phone into a service centre where they will sort it out. (ie, go back to the last firmware).
I agree with you, don't they test the firmware? It only took 10 mins for me to find problems after updating.
