The Motorola Devour announced yesterday doesnt have Android 2.0. Oh, what a co-incidence.

To be fair, the Devour will be in shops in the US next month. Probably right next to the empty space marked "X10 - Coming Soon"...

It'll be cheap and cheerful too - cheaper than either of Moto's Android handsets to date, which probably means a LOT cheaper than the X10 when it finally arrives.

I realise you've been here for a while, but you do still remember the meaning of the word "fair"? As in: "Trying to justify the shortcomings of an expensive high-end flagship by comparing it to a cheaper mass-market model that's coming out sooner isn't really fair".

The clip confirms that the Xperia X10 will record videos in WVGA (800 x 480) resolution. The clip had an average frame rate of 28.8 fps and minimum of 19.2 fps

Thanks.
I will update the firmware to the retail one, if this is possible and hopefully it is.

Now kinda iffy with the sound formats supported.
No m4a for my iTunes podcasts.

No matter tough.
The device is awesome and all my colleagues dig it.
Might get killed for it.

There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed.

Who right. I thought Android was Open source and you did not have to pay a premium for an updated version of Android? So how does your argument justify the Devour? The X10 is also out next month btw.

Que? Development costs money. Re-using the 1.6 based Motoblur already used on the Dext for the Devour saves money, and reduces the price of the Devour accordingly. It's a cheaper, more accessable handset for people who like the features but aren't too worried about the bleeding edge, so it makes perfect sense.

The X10 is high end, it'll be more expensive, it'll be SE's first Android phone (so no older platform to recycle), and it'll be out at least a month later than the Devour. So what does it have to do with the Devour? Nothing.

According to Tech Radar the x10 will run V1.6 with upgrade to V2.0 "later on" and be available on Vodafone in April

I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

Mobiletoday claims that it will available from the first of March. Looks like the X10 will be exclusive for a month to some other provider and also available sim free henceforth.
Err what? I am sure the X10 was in development since Android was first announced? A phone just doesnt come out of the blue. It takes months of development to bring it into existence. What applies for Moto applies for SE too. They were already into developing 1.6 so they did not find v.2.0 to be a viable update now.

Gawd!! Talking of double standards here. Bpinng, keep to your iphone. Such stupid comments dont show you in high light. Get well soon.

Mobile Today actually says this:

Mobile Today:
Online sales staff told Mobile the smartphone will be available from Sony Ericsson's online shop on March 1.

A Sony Ericsson online salesman said the online store will stock the X10 exclusively for the first week of March before it is goes on sale through other channels.

Mobile understands Vodafone has cut a deal with Sony Ericsson to stock the handset.

However a Sony Ericsson spokesman insisted: 'No date has been confirmed yet. All we have said is it will be launched in Quarter One.'

So even according to them it's Vodafone who have the exclusive - and Vodafone say April. There's nothing on the SE online store confirming a 1st March release - only the claim of these unnamed "online sales staff" who are contradicting SE's official line. Are SE really going to start selling the phone sim-free a full month before Vodafone's "exclusive"?

Err what? I am sure the X10 was in development since Android was first announced? A phone just doesnt come out of the blue. It takes months of development to bring it into existence.

No, phones don't come out of the blue, but that doesn't excuse SE being continually behind the curve. Moto brought the Dext out in October (using 1.6), and the Devour is just a cheaper, more accessable development of that platform. But even the Dext wasn't a high-end phone - that would be the Droid, remember. Released in November. With 2.0.

What applies for Moto applies for SE too. They were already into developing 1.6 so they did not find v.2.0 to be a viable update now.

There's a pretty crucial difference - Moto already released a 1.6 phone, four months ago. They've also done a 2.0 phone for the high end, three months ago. Now they're just capitalising on their advantage, and all that development they've already done.

SE on the other hand have released nothing for Android. Whenever they started developing the X10, they haven't developed it fast enough - hence their planned release of a Q1 handset in Q2, based on an OS from Q4 last year.

Ok, so it's a March launch for the X10 on T-Mobile followed by other networks (including Vodafone) in April. It's out in the same month as Devour. Will it be as cheap?

Boinng I fail to see the point to compare price of the X10 with Devour.
What do they have in common beside Android version. Almost all specs differ and also the fact that it is not Motorolas first Android phone must be an issue.
Please enlighten us if there is an other reason to why you asked that question rather than to annoy people.

The comparison with the Devour was brought up by se_dude and XPHCTOC, I'm just pointing out the irrelevancy of it, same as you.
