Cool. Thanks for the answers guys.

Alas, as much as I want an SE phone I also need a smart phone for word and excel docs so it will unfortunately have to be the I8510.

No way, ever again, a Nokia though!!! I hate 'em... as a company as a whole!!!

@max_wedge: The term 'java phone' may be wrong, and you can keep correcting everyone all day, but there's always gonna be someone that's gonna come along and call it that again.

Thing is, everyone knows what is meant when someone says 'java phone' and java does have an important role in the phone's software, so why not?

what's that got to do with the price of tea in china?

It entirely depends upon your needs.

btw, C905 is not a "java phone". It's an A200 phone with a multi-tasking capable Java application platform, but the main phone functions are A200 not java.

So true... I was to fast to replay.. C905 runs on a upgraded A200 platform..

if having the best camera available is not a huge priority, then look at WM devices. You can also EDIT word and excel with a WM device

(is Nokia still unable to do this?)

because noobs end up believing that SE phones are based solely on java.

Then they spread this misinformation to everyone they talk to, misinforming even more noobs until you end up with a blackhole of misinformation sucking everyone in except the seasoned members who are struggling to keep the discussions factual and useful, contintually having to correct people when it DOES matter (for example in discussions about the merits of various phone operating systems).

It's EXHAUSTING!!

The term "java phone" is only relevant when referring to the phones application platform. Symbian phones also have java, so are they "java phones"? Of course not, you can see how silly that sounds It's the same with A200.

Thanks Max. But I've got a Vario III (tytn II) right now. and as much as I like it i think it's waaaaaaaaaaay to big and bulky... and I also need a change

A good camera would be a massive plus, hence the samsung or se.

I had an N95 and got messed over real bad by Nokia so never another nokia again. I just refuse to give them my money!

Hahaha, you'll never win! Maybe you should start a thread of correct terms for noobs. Then you can just direct them to the thread whenever they get things wrong.

@scouser_75 some neat and quite small WM phones are now available (aka HTC Dual), but of course they don't have the camera of SE or Samsung Innov8. The Innov8 is an s60 phone, so keep that in mind if s60 was something about the N95 that you weren't fond of. Personally I'm not a big fan of s60, but samsung's implementation MAY be quite different to Nokia - this is something I'm keen to look at more closely.

@muhammad-Oli, I know it's a losing battle! I did actually start a thread on what JAVA actually is, I should have the link in my favourites

My N70 could already 'do this' The s60 OS is so hugely popular because of its flexibility and easy of use. I am answering this very same post single handed while still been able to carry on with my work. (I only have 2 hands and can't afford to use both just for this minor task). As the sales figures show, there are lots more people like me out there I believe the S60 outsells WM and SE combined Actually, S60 is the only other OS which gives Windows a run for its money (that's the good part), and Nokia knows that (that's the bad part)

According from Mobil.se C905 will be out next week in Sweden.

WE must be lucky who lives in Scandinavia, always get SE phones first

N70 as sold, cannot edit office documents, only view. I suggest your memory is faulty (it's understandable the N70 is OOOLD) My question is, do current s60 devices have the cut down viewer only version of quickoffice, or do the handsets now come with the full quickoffice suite that allows editing? Without the owner having to shell out $70 US for the full suite?

btw, on your reasoning above (about sales figures), Windows for PC's must be a better operating system than OS X?

yes u can edit documents in newer symbian phones(its been there for over a year)

And yes, Vista is better than OS X (name's too similar to OS XP?), imo.

I personally like Vista, but I think technically OS X is superior. Also from an interface point of view, for a non-computer person, MAC is probably easier to use.

But each release of Windows brings it a little closer to MAC in reliability and ease of use, and even in security, though this area trails the other two.

What I like about windows is the ease of manipulating how it works, but this is also the reason it is more susceptible to viruses and malware. All that means is you need third party security tools to keep Windows secure. This is okay for experienced users, but often causes problems for the computer illiterate.

Thanks again lads for the replies.

It wasn't so much the OS of the N95 I wasnt happy with. It was the build quality, 3 faulty handsets and the complete lack of customer service from nokia that I hated.

So, I dont mind an S60 phone.

I might just wait for the C905 to come out and see if it has a Word viewer on final release.

Oh, and also, whatever phone I do get HAS TO sync with my Mac - which the Samsung I dont think does. Hopefully the C905 has Word and can sync with Mac

Fingers crossed
