Used to avarage 6GB/day, until recently, ran out of things to download, games/hd/series not my thang. Noticed something v'ry weird, on my 3.6Mbps modem I can download any large file (+5GB) successfully. My sister came back from Joburg, she has a 7.2Mbps modem for work, borrowed it, inserted my R0.00 sim card, have to say, speeds are excellent/impressive (~450Kb/s.) Err, ok I'll download this file off RS (I'm premium) - 1.34GB, should be no hassles; and it flies. 498MB, 499MB, 500MB EXACTLY - suddenly it halts, I'm like wtf!? Restart it same result. Ask my sister what's up? She says she has a 500MB limit p/m (contract), I say that's not s'pose to hinder and obstruct activities of another sim card isn't it? She's baffled as well am I. Okay, notice something the flippin' limit, so I up it to like 20GB, okay this will make a diff., same result all downloads halt at the 500MB mark. Perplexing indeed. She don't trust me, so she check whether she's billed ot not, well as expected she's not. Funny story. On my 3.6Mbps modem though I can download any file size with no limit. |

P.S Opera mini 4.2 can't download large files (well, the settings I've tried/used) like +30mb. However, couple times with 5.0 or 5beta2 I've done in excess of 100MB like 5 times. My largest file being 117MB. I recommend PC/modem utilisation for large files. I guess Opera Mini servers can't handler/buffer the large files we're trying to download (sharing sites, near impossible, +200MB and up). I've used UCWeb and BOLT haven't tried +50mb files yet. Still to try some fresh handlers tonight. Thanks Riwwerman for the link. |

Khanya its nt da sim dat iz lockd 2 500mb its da modem jst update the firmware or get an unlock code frm sumwhere or get it urself by usin a hex editor + qmat to get the unlock code

Got some other stuff like and use - Skype, Mig33, BOLT, Google Maps, Snaptu (My fav.), AED downloader, DM Mobile, Twittai, Nimbuzz, Mobilget - all MODS, with work with various tricks. I use a Nokia E71, and speeds are crappy indeed although HSDPA, it goes like at 100kB/s at good 3:5G signal. Whilst modem 3.6Mbps goes at 200kB/s. Anyone else seen the new Nokia E73 Mode? Impressive battery life, good features all round + 10.2Mbps down & 2.0Mbps up, plan on getting it, although there are various 10.2Mbps capable Nokia's (e.g E5, 6710). By the time these 14Mbps / 21Mbps towers are fully functional, deployed and live, we're to feast on blitz downloads. |
