Although this is my first post I have been a frequent visitor to this forum for some time, desperate for any indication as to when SE will release the (almost mythical) P990i. Having used the P800, P900 and P910i over the last few years, I like I suspect many others have become extremely keen to finally have the latest incarnation of the P series in our hands.
For a long time the release date of the UK SE online shop was June; I even called them and they confirmed this. Then sadly as we all now know this date has slipped to August and as the date has already slipped more than once, there seems to be a fair amount of sceptism about this "revised" release date as well. My local mobile operator Eurotel CZ (now part of the Telefonica/O2 family), tell me that the P990i will be available during September.
I can only hope that the phone does indeed appear in places like Hong Kong and Dubai towards the end of this month, therefore making it somewhat likely that operator "tweaked" versions could be on sale during September. Here in Prague the M600i is available SIM free from internet dealers, yet I have yet to see one for sale in one of the many mobile shops.
At one time I thought I would be in possession of this phone by Spring 2006 at the latest, but it was not to be. There has at least been one benefit to me from all the waiting, and that's after dabbling with all manner of S60, WM5 and mobile plus PDA combinations, I have realised that the UIQ 3/P990i platform is worth waiting for based on my experiences with its predecessors and market rivals. |

@Scorchio I totally agree. On the face of it you can not do better then the Jam, give it to me for a review and i'll have nothing but praise for it, owning one however is a complete different story. It is the most unstable device I have ever come across (I started from a Palm Pilot Professional), I still have nightmares about it.
My view is that no matter how many bells and whistles you put in a phone, if your phone is not stable then it has failed as a phone. Life is unpredicitable and the last thing u need in an emergency is your phone failing on you.

Pixmania UK expect to have stocks of the P990 around the first week in August. This makes the Expansys claim of late August very odd. Also play.com are still saying 1st August. |

i just had a word with someone i know in sony ericsson in Dubai, and he told me that the p990 will be out within 2 weeks from today atleast in Dubai,....so lets hope it actually happens this time!

I was under the assumption that this handset would be out next weekend. At least that is the word I'm getting from a small local electronics shop in the US. They have carried all the Pxxx series in the past and have seemed to be able to get a hold of them fairly early. However, being that next weekend is their ETA and they haven't strayed from that date I am hoping they will pull through. On the other hand, I have been waiting my breath for the past few months. |

Typical I'll be on holiday for a week when the P990 will be finally seen - so I'll miss all the debates etc. Oh..well..lets hope I can source one around 24 July when I get back

YES, finally... we can end this repetitive posting of speculative availability...
well, maybe... we'll see
for myself, I'm still no less put off the P990 due to any delays, indeed the M600 has opened my eyes wide to what is coming and I'm dead keen to try out the full package including wifi and 3g
