well... my (17yo) son has kept his K800 as second phone for mucking around, doing parcours/skating etc etc but prefers his N95
however... he has now given the K850 "full approval" and though he says the N95 still does better images and video he has declared that he "wants one"!
for me, unfortunately I'm bored already. I think I just can't live with a device that doesnt have a touch screen any more as any other input just sees archaic unfortunately
I'm happy with a hardscreen device as my main handset, though mainly because I've not been happy with the camera in the htc devices I've owned and I can't really afford to just go out and buy the one that will suit my needs. So I've always opted for a Kseries as my main handset for everday use. I tried using my N70, but honestly I just can't get into Nokia UI, it irritates, and a hardscreen smartphone just seems so pointless to me, as you say, the input is archaic.
My hope is that SE will release a UIQ3 K series, with dpad and normal keypad, but touchscreen as well.
No WAY! to both of you .... I loathe touchscreen!
* Maybe you guys don't have dry screen and don't need to use cream
(oil smudges/cream smudges on the touchscreen is a pain to get off even with soft cloth.)
* To me touchscreen is great for signatures, but how often does the avg person use this?! Remember we went from paper > digital touchscreens to hard-keys> back again to smaller touchscreen displays.
For quick and efficient data entry NOTHING beats physical buttons:
Not prediction with few buttons
Not voice to text entry
not touch screen
Nadda NOTHING.
With today's technology cpu's are STILL not advanced enough and software is STILL not efficient enough to recognize so many accents, uniqueness of voice pitch (phrases, emphasis, etc) to work with EVERY1's own voice for voice to text. its getting better but not there yet. Show me 1 tablet PC that can allow handwriting recognition from the worlds fastest handwriting/printer (not hunt&peck) compared to Claris keyboard typing.
Paper STILL rules because it provides the best friction to allow minimal resistance to physical handwriting.
Tablet PC's are good because the screen is large enough to read icons & character input even or those with less than 20/20 vision without eyestrain and good for onscreen keyboard to be EFFECTIVELY used as a real keyboard. However Hybrid/Convertible Tablet PC's (those with a real physical keyboard) outsell sole screen+Stylus entry Tablets 90-1 in worldwide sales.
(sry a bit off topic)
Preferably I'd live to see the K850i with say a 2.3/2.4 screen (slightly wider in portrait mode) with UIQ3 (non-touch screen). And another UIQ3 Smartphone but with full-qwerty with landscape layout not M600 type portait mode.
UIQ3 is a clear evolution for the Kseries Cybershot line. more power more complex applications without sacrificing incredible Java support and allow higher clarity & sharp screens!

Well, when I use a touchscreen, I use character recognition, and once you are used to it it's quite fast. mib and I had an argument about this very factor, but for me I am too clutzy to use t9 fast. Oh, I'm no slouch, but for me I simply find being able to write on the touchscreen much easier and faster than a keypad. And tiny qwerty is just a joke (for me that is, I'm not saying it's so for everyone). But for me my fingers jumble over eachother and it's useless.
The other main drawcard of the touchscreen is the ability to draw on it, and also the ability to cut and paste, drag and drop and other "mouse like" uses of the touchscreen.
No matter what you say, for someone who prefers this style of input, a hardscreen simply can't compete. And a touchscreen combined with intelligently placed buttons can have the best of both worlds.
btw, I am NOT a fan of the iphone, because it has NO buttone at all. So as you can see I'm not a fan of touchscreen only devices, but imho to have a touchscreen and buttons increases flexibility.

Thought there's still the green ring in the green and black version of the phone?
Or are you talking about the light when the camera shutter is open?
Final version both have silver ring. I'm not talking about the light. |

I have a question for you plank. After you take the pictures do you edit them at all on photo shop or use a noise reduction software? Is there much noise with the iso levels set to the highest? |

I assume "dry screen" is a typo as most people prefer their screen that way
If we forget Apple and their non-smartphone iPhone for a moment (remember that it takes unofficial hacks to actually load apps on that phone!), and note that most device makers still provides styluses with their touchscreen devices.
I have used touchscreen-based QWERTY keyboard devices for more than a year (i-mate JASJAM, SE P990i). With a QWERTY keyboard and a stylus instead of a mouse you truly feel that you are carrying around a proper computer with you.
