I went onto the orange website to see about upgrading (currently had my t610 about 18 months).

Seems to suggest I have to pay £189 to upgrade my phone.

Admittedly I am only on a £15 a month tariff but that seems very costly.

I would gladly upgrade my tariff to about £30 on a 12 month contract to get the phone for £30 (which is what I could get it for if i took out a new contract).

Doesnt seem possible though, guess I will just have to jump to o2.

You can upgrade your tarriff to £30 and get the phone for £30. I upgraded my tarriff last month so that I wouldnt have to pay anything for the phone - I'm now on an orange premiere plan and get upgrades after 9 months if I stay on it that long!

Carphone Warehouse are due to have it in tomorrow (wednesday).

They are taking backorders today on Vodafone 200 Mins (6 months half price Line rental via chequeback redemption) and the phones free!

This will be a generic handset and is also available on vodafone and o2 Upgrades.

Dont fancy having to wait till my next billing period for my new tariff to kick in. Any idea if i will be able to sort this out immediately if i go into an orange shop?

I have just been given the same quote for the orange upgrade. Given I have had my phone nearly 2 yrs and average £60-70 bill per month i said i wasnt happy and wanted to cancel my contract.

After putting me through to the cancellations, the guy i spoke to looked at my details, previous plans, amount of my bills etc and said I can have the phone for free and back on the £30 per month tarriff.

He said the upgrade department have no flexibility at all. The upgrade fee is set. However the retention people take everything else into consideration.

try phoning, worked for me...mine is getting delivered Thursday

Rang O2 this morning as soon as I realized it was on there.

First time on the upgrade number she denied they even had it?!?!!

Second time another lady advised i call in 1 week regarding an upgrade.

Third time rang the cancellation line and said i wanted to cancel (before I realized Orange had it, had I known I would have driven a harder bargain!!).

The lady (Alison) was putting me on and off hold and finally said she had ordered it for me, gave me her extension number etc. She also confirmed my delivery address which i asked if could change. This has been updated on my O2 profile now.

She said to wait up to 28 days!!!!!! They'll e mail me a tracking number. She did basically go through all the motions confirmed it would be a new contract and confirmed the order.

What a joke, 3 different calls 3 different results. I've been waiting to upgrade 2 months and was willing to even go straight back with O2.

Will wait and see, that was about 9.30am, as yet still no despatch number.

So let me get this straight... You actually cancelled your existing contract to get the phone, or did they order it for you for an upgrade?

In relation to them refusing to sell you them remember that any retailer can refuse you service if they so wish, harsh but not a thing you can do about it.

Then how can a shop be done for false advertising?
"No false advertising here sir, we just exercised 'our right to refuse' with every customer wanting the item advertised..." ??

@ Rookwise i was thinking of ordering the phone from that website you ordered it from, but what i am worried about, is if it develops a fault like some users are experiencing, such as screen freeze etc. I will have to wait a a few days of a week without a phone while the faulty one is getting fixed or replaced. So i am thinking of just waiting to get it sim free from the shops, that way if there is a problem, i'l just take it back and exchange it. But let me know once u do get yours, if there is a prob, if its prob free then i might as well order one from that site too, unless i get it from the store 1st that is.

Hey, for those guys wondering about Orange and upgrading, if you switch to a tarriff of £25 or more a month then you will be able to upgrade to a k750i for £30. If you upgrade your traiff to premier then you'll be able to get it for free. (Until the end of may, premier contracts have a discount of £15 a month for the first 6 months meaning you'll save a total of £90, and get 600 cross net minutes, plus £10 worth of messaging and 20% off accessories and dedicated customer support for £40 a month for 6 months and then £55 after that - for heavy users its a decent tariff!)

orange stores should be receiving a delivery of the k750i's tomoro (wednesday 25th) though stock will probably be limited for the first few weeks obviously.

@ djpjni. I called up orange today, I am currently paying £15 for 500 evening cross net mins. I got my contract in august last year. I got told today, if i upgrade today i'l be upgrading early, so will have to be a £75 early upgrade fee, plus if i want to get the k750, i shall have to be £189 for the handset. In total i am paying £264. I'd rather not upgrade with orange, since I already have another seperate orange contract. which i got a few month back. But if I change tarrif to a £25 a month or more? Do u think i will still get it for £30 the phone plus the upgrade fee of £75?

@ mr miyagi: as far as i understand it, and i work in orange retail, if you upgrade your tariff, you'll be able to get the upgrade for the price of the new tariff, in this case £30! So for you to upgrade to the £25 a month tariff (which is 120 cross net mins) you'll get the fone for £30. Now that ties you in to another 12 month contract, but you can downgrade your tariff after 6 months.

Thats the way we work it instore anyway!!

Sometimes the orange upgrades people will say that you have to wait until your next billing date to change your fone, as thats the time when your tariff actually chages, but usually we'll give you the fone for the upgraded tariff price.

All those which have theres on an o2 contract... can you tell me whether its actually locked on o2 or can you put any networked sim in?
As tommorw i might have a chance of gettin it from o2 (i went today and they said it was a contract phone only after... they got the phone out ready for me to buy on sim-free) though i need to know are there phones actually all branded. Are the phones which they're going to use for contract restricted to o2 only whereas the ones which they were supposed to sell sim-free, sim-free BEFORE SHIPPED?
As of tommorw my bro knows one of the managers and i dont want a k750 which was meant to be for contract. (ends up being locked to o2)

Any help would be appreciated.

@ mr m: orange stores don't sell phones sim free, all the phones that we receive have sim cards in them, and therefore we must register every handset, and sim card to a customer!

Just remembered there, if its off peak minutes you are interested in, there is a tariff that has 1000 cross network off-peak mins and its at £25, therefore this would entitle you to the £30 upgrade cost, and then the £75 early upgrade fee. possible idea!?
