opsss, sorry avatar, i was talking to doctabako about that gun ban. it is applicable only here in the Philippines (avatar... you are lucky.), for the duration of the elections, like what doc already said. it will be lifted again soon anyway. it is just that i gripe about this often, wishing someday the authorities may be enlightened and see that the ban is not the solution to crime, but to the contrary the firing pin to start it.

a few bumper stickers i saw in the USA...

GUN CONTROL
DISARMS VICTIMS
NOT CRIMINALS

WHEN GUN CONTROL
HAS US BEAT
CRIMINALS WILL
OWN THE STREET

THE RIGHT TO
CARRY FIREARMS
IS THE RIGHT TO
PROTECT YOUR FAMILY

EVERY YEAR
TWO MILLION TIMES
ARMED CITIZENS
PREVENT CRIMES

ARMED CITIZENS
CRIMINALS AVOID
IN 43 STATES
BUT NOT ILLINOIS

IN AUSTRALIA
CRIME WAS LOW
GUNS WERE BANNED
AND CRIME DID GROW

DISARMING VICTIMS
WON'T STOP CRIME

IF GUNS
CAUSE CRIME
MATCHES
CAUSE ARSON

THUGS
WON'T DARE ATTACK
WHEN A CITIZEN
MIGHT SHOOT BACK

GUNS ARE NEITHER
GOOD NOR EVIL
HOW THEY'RE USED
DEPENDS ON PEOPLE

SHOOTING SPORTS
ARE SAFE AND FUN
THERE'S NO CAUSE
TO FEAR A GUN

Nice sure beats the ubiquitous PROGUN stickers that we have here. An organization that I'm not too happy about since they don't do much to lobby for our cause anyway and are usually late in reacting to issues. At least AFAD is active, though of course one can argue that they have an ulterior motive. Who cares as long as they get the message across.

yes, doc, unfortunately even if ProGun do act on time there is very little support from anyone else. we are like a family of vampires or werewolves, we live in darkness, the society scorns us gun lovers. they think we are violent. but they all turn to us for help when violence actually come to their homes. i was talking to a friend yesterday and he seem treatened by unfriendly condition on way home from work. he himself asked me how to acquire firearms. so i explained the legal proceedures. then his wife butts in and said.... "ay naku, ayoko ng mga ganyang bagay sa bahay natin! kakatakot"

what an a**hole wife. as if having no gun at home is safer! geezzz...

anyway....the husband seem more sensible and he'll go on with the acquisition. i just have to guide this guy or else he may have accidents. hopefully he's a new convert.

Saw the "Underworld" movie yesterday. H & K USPs, Berettas, Walthers, M-16s, H&K G-36s, and 12-gauge shotguns are all there. They even have the British L85 (S80) and the Steyr AUG prominently displayed in a cabinet. Lots of fangs and claws, too.

saw that movie too. yes i'd say it is ok. a romeo&juliet kind of plot in the world of vampyres and lycans at war. add those tons of guns and its an action movie to see. anyone of you notice.... the dual berettas M92 and the dual walther p99 that selena is using... are they in full auto?! or she just squeeze them evenly, in vampyre mode, one after the other, and make a "full auto" effect? whatever... it is a nice movie.

by the way.... for the 1911 fanatics.... sorry to disappoint you, no 1911 handguns here. it is all modern handguns. unlike the movie "resident evil", where the new weapons were combined with the chrome caspian 1911 (oh yes, caspian in relatively new anyway).

re: the movie Underworld- i have heard a complaint already... why is there an utter lack of female lycanthropes? selene is great, but there should have been a female counterpart!

doc
i know you are using tungsten. well, the tungsten-3 is locally available already. its landscape mode for dbase, etc, is nice. just like a P800 with landscape mode (pictures only)
Php22.xx as introductory price. with the trend they made on tungstens i guess we have to wait for a while till the market price go down a bit.

Actually I'm quite peeved with palm. Bought my Tungsten t less than a year ago for 21 K and here they are now with the T2 and T3 and they say the T4 isn't far behind, and for almost the same price at that. This is what happens for those who can't wait to get one. Now, I'll just wait until it settles down a bit as sooner or later, their upgrades will be less and less. Then and only then will I buy the latest model. This is much like what nokia used to do, by releasing their technology piecemeal so they can sell more phones. I don't want to fall into that trap again. My t68i has been the longest with me and I'm not in a hurry to replace it.
The Glock 37 has been getting good reviews lately what with getting .45 ACP stopping power in a 9 mm sized pistol however its .45 GAP cartridge unless it dislodges the ACP is bound to go the way of other proprietary cartridges that have gone by the wayside. Think it'll catch on in the Philippines?

Just finished watching "underworld". Nice movie, nice guns. The HK does have a lot of exposure here, specially the discontinued match models. Those beretta's that you refer to seem to be Beretta M93R's, which have a 3 shot burst capability but it seems to be missing the handle in front of the trigger guard and it does seem to be going full auto instead of burst mode. Probably the reason why they don't have female lycans is because they will be showing unacceptable nudity every time the lycans change

The .44 Rem Magnum cartridge is an all-american classic like the .45 ACP which has found its niche in the market and will probably never go away even with all the new and more powerful cartridges being developed. As for handling it, that can easily be arranged if you happen to be in my town

I like the G17 full auto model in Matric Reloaded.
Is this a dream or a memory?

yes doc i know what you mean by being sort of like product testers for these electronic gadgets.... palm PDAs, Pocket-PC PDAs, Nokia cellphones, etc. but it seems we are really captive market after all. if we dont upgrade, we fall behind. i mean, how would i look if i still use a nokia 5110 these days. well of course i can still text or call you, but thats all. hey, i'm annoyed with the situation like you do, and i agree very much with your sentiments. but the flow is there. now check out this new nokia-6600 coming out these holiday season.... people will be throwing away their 7650 now (sell them, actually)?

see.... that's why i love buying guns, instead of those gadgets. it definitely always lasts longer! and always reliable! and it communicates all the time (ehem)! so...count how many years the 1911 has been with us? the browning hi-power? the Sig P series? the M-16 series? even the berettas, the the M-14, the revolvers, etc. i bet the relatively new Glock will even outlast the soon-to-come Palm-T4!
