Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi may use imx586.
Is Sony going to stick with 400 and rely on software improvements.?
I would feel satisfied with dual 1/1.9" RGB 23MP and 16MP monochrome. |

I hope sony picks up the pace and brings more innovative technology to mobile phones... as much as i hope for this, i'm fairly sure sony will continue to play catch up. makes me sad.
if the leaks about samsung's "work in progress" are true, they are gonna blow away everyone if they are first to market with it. in screen fps, in screen camera/sensor array, acoustic surface, and new haptic tech.
these are all things sony should be doing. they already have the tech for acoustic surface, they just need to shrink it down to mobile size. they have haptic tech too, which just needs to be implemented in a manner that's useful and innovative instead of just a rumble pack. the other two, i'm not sure if they have in house tech for it, but they could figure it out. they need to leap frog other manufacturers in tech and features and be first to market in these CRITICAL areas in order to stand out and make some money.
lastly, they need better carrier relations. As good as a device may be, if carriers don't sell them, market them, etc. they just don't sell as well. at least here in the states, if it's not on one of the major carriers, people don't even know about it.
i want sony to succeed. i want my next phone to be a sony again. but i want good reasons to have one beyond my love for sony.

They have in screen fingerpirnt reader patent for the last 5-6 years but they havent done anything with it. |

Just heard something interesting.
Japanese carrier, more specifically docomo is already in talk with SMC about next flagship xperia.
This is very unusual because with the current pattern of release cycle that 1 flagship as summer model and another as winter model, they won't start talking before MWC.
So this fact probably indicate that next flagship xperia (XZ4? XZ3 Pro/Plus etc?) will be released much earlier than we

Sony was the first to register patent of IN SCREEN SELFIE.
Sony has ACOUSTIC SURFACE.
Sony has patent for NFC wireless charging.
All this is necessary to for next Premium. Also the double of DRAM amount inside sensors, we need inside both..

What's NFC wireless charging and why is it interesting?
Acoustic surface in a touchscreen? Doesn't sound doable...
Oh god, the camera sticks out just like on an iPhone - it's ugly. If it's true, it may indicate that they've added OIS.
So far, there hasn't been OIS and I guess they have a good reason for that. I wonder what are the drawbacks of OIS. Would anyone care to elaborate on this issue?

I'm eager to know the good reason of lacking of OIS.
I mean if it's going to show up in the next model what would be the excuse for them not adding it before and keep stick to the EIS.

I would hope they could create a far superior OIS mechanism to get rid of that stupid Jello effect.
Maybe even have 1 camera module with OIS for photos and 1 without OIS for videos. |

The monochrome is being used to avoid OIS.
No need to go slower than 1/16 to do better than other going 1/4.
Sharp has one phone with two cameras and one is just for video. I don't know if it's s3.
Only Huawei can challenge Premium after sunset. The rest is too far.
Difference is pretty huge.
According to the post, the first ( blue phone) might be XZ4, then there is a render of XA3 /Ultra with dual cam
Rumours say it is 0.5 mm only, for example the cam of iPhone has 2 mm
