Thanks for that, I didn't realise the battery was that different in the SE's.
Shouldn't come as a suprise since the mini is so much smaller than X10 (its even smaller than HTC wildfire). More powerfull battery would probably have required a slightly bigger body as well, but then it would not have been a "mini" anymore I guess. Never the less, as I stated above, whatever phone you get, be prepared to charge every night at average.

I do like the look of the Mini, but on the other hand I would be more likely to buy any well made Android handset who's battery lasted a lot longer than the others... |

Just handled the mini for the first time today, couldnt believe how small it was, like a small box of matches !
Impressive little handset. Too small for me to use however !

I probably would too, if such device existed and was as small and good looking as X10 mini.
Unfortenately, I have not found such device yet.

I'm planning to buy this phone.
Had called up the Official Sony Ericsson shop here in Chennai, India and checked out the availability and price of this phone. The guy at the shop told me that it will be available in 3 days and the price wud be 15500 INR that is approx US 350$. And the accessories that come in the package are charger, data cable, headset and manual. Thats much the guy told me and didnt say anything abt the extra back covers for the phone. And the headset is HPM 70 with a 3.5 mm jack.
Isn't it supposed to come with MH810 or MH710? the sales guy told me twice upon asking again that the headset is HPM 70. May be he doesn't know? Anybody who has bought this phone can confirm this? |

Unfortunately the MH810/710 or back covers are only included in certain countries. Maybe India is not one of them! I doubt the UK will be either!! |

Was in Carphone Warehouse today and they are in full force with the x10 mini, piled high boxes with advertisments, the main theme of advertisment is small phone big on features.
Anyway, X10 mini looks very nice indeed, unfortunatley there weren't any dummy phones on show. CPW has pretty much turned into a SE shop, with them pushing the vivaz alot as well, and most of the dummy phones on show in the contract section are SE. |

Yeah my local one is the same.
Was really excited & was hoping to pick one up yesterday but apparently according to the staff CPW will not be realising the stock till towards the end of next week.
The suggestion by the staff is that the phone will be avaialble on pay as you go from day one at £230 so i'm hoping it's true coz i'm on O2 Simplicity so am just after the phone itself.

Sounds about right as they are £229 SIM free on play.com

£229 doesn't sound right to me, the PAYG option should cost less not the same as sim free, even though CPW always sell sim free phones as PAYG phones. Anyway the X10 mini is available on tarrifs as low as £15 a month (free phone) but you are tied in for 24 months, which is becoming standard these days. As low as £25 a month for 18 month contract, this as at CPW. When phones4u release the X10 M the tarrifs should be around £5 cheaper. |

Not really. Ive seen plenty of examples in the past where the sim free handset is cheaper than the PAYG alternative.
Besides, what you must be forgetting is CPW sell unbranded sim free handsets, then just stick in a PAYG sim card when you buy the phone. They get a small amount of money from the sale of the phone, but a big chunk of commission from the network for selling it on a network with a compulsory top up.

Hi guys, need some advice..I previously owned the vivaz for a short while before selling it, it was my first experience of a touch phone and did not like it. Was very slow and the symbian os was just ugly. Watching the youtube videos of the x10 mini, it seems so fast. Would you say their is a big difference between the 2 phones user experience wise (speed? os?)
and also are people getting 2-3 days of battery like the review saids?
any input would be great guys.

You've already seen how fast it is from youtube videos and the OS of X10 mini and Vivaz are completely different as x10 mini is running google's android and the vivaz is running symbian... |

Yep, Symbian (S60) and Android are like night and day respectively.
I played with the X10 yesterday and the performance is incredible! You will not regret making a switch except maybe that the mini is running on Android 1.6 at the moment. Oh, another thing is that the Vivaz is resistive and will not be as smooth as the X10 mini's capacitive, they are just not on the same level.
It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009 |
