@bonovox
branded firmware always sucks
and you may not be able to update to the new firmware because Orange hasnt allowed it yet on their firmware.
you can only update once Orange release/approve it.

Oh ok that clears that one up then. The firmware i got right now is stable anyway. How will i know or how do i check for new Orange updates? Bit unsure weather i am experienced or confident enough to debrand. When funds allow i will buy sim free phone again soon. Just at the moment this phone was cheap on Orange and within my current budget. I hate the Orange software too though like i said its stable. So far.

Debranding using davinci is very easy. You can even download a guide how to do it.

I know its not much money but do they all charge regarding debranding? May try it soon really love the look of the original SonyEricsson menus its the best interface on the market by far. Used to love Nokia but now theirs is more complicated and messy. Really wanna debrand. |

Debranding:
1: Change Phone's CDA with customize_upgrade.xml file
2: Update phone with SEUS to generic unbranded version
3: ?????
4: Profit
It is that easy, just wait until more experienced people have done it and CDA's come available. The CDA is just a string of numbers/letters telling SE which region and type of phone you got, yours right now says something like United Kingdom, Orange branded. So if you use SEUS now you will get Orange branded firmware. Change the CDA to a generic Western Europe CDA and SEUS will give you an unbranded version.
But you can always pay some company to do above for you and flash a generic firmware from their servers instead of SE.

I just used wotanserver to debrand my orange c510 and it worked no problems at all. I'm now using the generic adriatic R1DA035 firmware. No more orange! YAY!
Think it changed the CID as well so in future I can just use SEUS to update and it won't put orange stuff back on my phone.
Back to the camera though, its still really laggy/bad refresh rate. When I put the video camera on its smooth, just the still photo camera has the problem. I've also noticed a little flag type symbol in the bottom left corner of the camera interface that I havn't seen on any other SE handsets..anyone else have this? Also do you have a memory card in the phone? |

Hm okay interesting turn of events with the camera refresh rate..
If I point the camera in bright light the refresh rate is perfect, but indoors, even in what I'd consider good light its pretty poor. Low light shots with this phone are awful btw.

Yeah i find refresh rate really smooth outside and even smooth inside on video mode. Must be something wrong with yours. I got that flag symbol on my camera what is it? |

Nah there is nothing wrong with it, the refresh rate is just really slow in low light.
I have noticed that there are 2 little chips out of the silver already though on the battery cover, just where the camera cover opens, see that on yours? |

Not yet although i know where you mean where the camera cover runs over the battery cover.

Yeah exactly. I've figured out that it happens when you open the camera cover in a certain way. If you push it from the top of the phone you won't cause it to leave marks. |

Oh good thanks for the tip. I actually find the camera cover very solid although there is a knack to opening it if not opened right it only opens half way and closes again. Its a nice sunny day today just been outside taking photos with this phone. Its performing nicely for me just indoors its not. The LED 'flash' is ok for close ups of faces though. Its great for outdoors fun snaps and viewing them on the bright screen. But i would think some people may call it Cybershit than Cybershot lol

just got my orange branded c510 2day. wasnt planning it but fones4u have been nipping my head 4 ages now. anyway, am i i right in saying the factory model should have an instant youtube upload feature, facebook, bebo etc options and a threaded txt option? if so, have i just been shafted by typical orange dominance on a phone? i would really like these feature, but im kinda just waiting for someone to say i need 2 debrand or something. can anyone help?
thanks |
