ATTENTION! SE producers/developers answered to our question:
"when will SE break the ice, and will release a phone that will record in VGA"
"SE is not developing one, and will not develop one in the near future, because the Cyber-shot range is dedicated for still photos, not videos"
WTF???????!!!!! This was the answer to the question, and shocked the fans and audience.. Really nice SE!!!!!!!
Cyber Shot for still photos
Handy for video.
also that's separated
I think so. For me QVGA video with 30fps is enought. If you want more - handycam.
Some people don't use their phone camera and say "if you want to take pictures use a DSLR camera", does this mean there shouldn't be any phones with cameras?
Any cheap digital camera can record in VGA today and most competitors mid-range devices can do it too, so why nerf this high-end phone like this? |

For whoever wants more than QVGA, get a handycam.
Who want more than 8mpx camera quality, get a digital camera.
Who wants to listen to good quality music, get an mp3 player.
Who wants games, get a PSP.
LOL... don't post stupid answers. If you're fine with QVGA rec., then no problem for you. Just don't say "get handycam". Is nokia a handycam? it records in VGA... |

Yes. That's right. But people like me use the phone only for photos. I don't make video often so I am not interested in the video resolution ( for now ).

I suppose the C905 does not support flash themes (like other Cybershots) or maybe it does? Maybe by now will have added this feature, or is it still company policy that flash stays -friendly only? |

I'd like to remind you that images are not allowed in signatures. And it's annoying, too. |

But you admit thet it would be better if it used VGA, right? I mean if u had 2 C905 one with QVGA, and one with VGA, you'd choose the QGVA?
Soooooo the only thing this phone is above K850i is the WiFi, GPS and +3MPx camera.
And I wounder why do ppl prefere nokia...
EDIT: even k850i has flash themes. Thats why i'm gonna switch my k810 to C905. The menu's look like flash ones, and c702 also has flash menus. so if they're gonna cut it from c905 saying "it's a phone for pictures, not music and animation" then i'm gonna take a dump on this new C905. But hopefully not. And i'm sick of this "this is a X phone used for Y; if you want Z on phone, get a V phone..."

I'm not sure people will go for a Nokia instead. Depends though, if Nokia has fixed a number of embarrassing flaws that's present in their N82 model.
I have the N82 now because I got tired of waiting for SE to pull them selves together. (I can see they're trying with the C905 but not quite gotten there yet). But to get the VGA recording options the N82 has, you also have to live with the poor Java stuff and poor SMS options. I'm not sure I can do that for too long.
I think I prefer QVGA recording, when it means I get the other nice SE features. |

at least if they are going to post such stuff about not meant for video recording they should release camcorder phones..but i am sure that when SE will feel the heat from its cosomers..it will add on that...and i personally believe the next gen smartphones will have VGA recording.. |

I think you are wrong our devices do not need 400mhz processors or better to record VGA Video.
As proved by the first mobile to offer this the Nokia N93 running a OMAP 2420 processor @332mhz back in 2006. Followed by all the other OMAP 2420 processor equipped devices that still now record VGA Video at up 640x480 30fps.
But those that say it is not necessary it must be one of the most requested features i see wanted by SE users in thread after thread over the last two years. It always seems to be one of the first questions asked about any new device does it record VGA Video. Now SE confirming they won't add this feature leaves their users with two options either do without or by a device from another manufacturer.

Only reason I stick with SE is the interface. Otherwise i would opt for nokia n95 8GB, or samsung soul, or some touchscreen LG. these last 2 are very beautiful phones, even if they don't take good photos.
I like the C902, but the camera sucks, also 2inch display... It would be a downgrade for me. Also miss the M2/SD combo. I can buy 2x8GB microSD for the price of 1x8GB m2... both original, not fake ones. It's all about money at SE.. why pay other brand money, when u can limit the product, and get extra money with storage device.
EDIT: well if not 400MHZ, then 336.. still thats far away from our 220Mhz AMR processors running in K810 and K850. Better video playback needs more juice, or hardware accelerator.

@norbi_nw,
The C902 specs sheet at http://developer.sonyericsson[....]s/phonegallery/c902/p_c902.jsp
states FlashLite 2.0 support, so let's hope the C905 will not be lacking in that department either.
Cheers! |
