It is worth to flash yourself!!! I do not trust to give me phone to someone I do not know to flash it unless it is an authorized dealer. Here in the USA, we do not get the privilige of gettting upgrades.

Since I learned how to do it, if I need to upgrade my phone in the future, I will have no problems doing it myself. Its a risk, but who wants to have an outdated phone right?

In Lithuania we don't have problems with upgrading our mobiles.
I can go to my SP every month:) But is it really necessary?
I tried r5c and I haven't found any real difference in speed comparing with my r2e. I also haven't found any new functions. So I decided not to upgrade.
After upgrading Siemens you don't need to adjust it. I upgraded my Siemens every time I found a new version withuot paying atention whether it had new functions.
After upgrading SE the adjustment of my phone used to take the whole day, i.e. adress book, GPRS connection, WAP, e-mail, mms, ringertones, themes etc. etc.
So I'd better wait for a real visible upgrade, and I will go to my SP because I trust him;)

Alot of us here in the USA are stuck with the T68m phones which have very old firmware. SonyEricsson refuses to upgrade the phones and the only option left is to go out of the country to do it or to do it yourself.

I agree that if you have a T68i already don't bother upgrading because only minor improvements are visible. However, if you have a T68m, ugrading to a T68i is crucial to some of us!

So the bottom line is: it is definately worth to upgrade your m to i here, because of all the features you get, however it might be too much of a worthless risk to go from say r2e to r5c, i have r2e and it is all good, but i still want to have the latest, thus i still haven't decided if i want to subject my phone to a potential death, just for the sake of having the latest... us se sucks on this...
anyway, so does anyone have the non ie r5d file with a fixed bt problem?????? thanx

I've read through all the posts, and all is well and good, but I am still confused about the software version to convert to and bluetooth compatability. I would like a version with English and SPanish, and I want to make sure that the BT still works. Will the flash file from
http://www.pocketbuddy.com/files/SE/T68i-R5C001.zip
work for me?
Many thanks.

I flashed my t68i to the r5c001 on the pocketbuddy site and have no problems with Bluetooth. It works just as it was before. The menus are faster, but I have had some issues with the phone booting up. Sometimes it can take several minutes to boot. Very strange.

I have a T68 with R2B013 stock and I have the same startup problem. Has anyone flashed the T68->T68i and been successful with bluetooth?

to tell you the truth, i am not sure if i want to alter the build sw on my phone... it is fine bt works and the loading is okay, i guess i can live with slightly slower menus, in order to avoid some issues i might pick up by upgrading.

the R5C001 has the North American Language set,

US English, Spanish and French..

As for flashing to R5C from R2E, if your orig works, then don't do it IMHO..

Some people have been getting problems with R2E and R2F in regards to lost data accounts during powercycle though. It's a firmware bug with the old ones on certain T68m hardware..

Hi,

Today I tried to downgrade the phone to R3C001. My computer still can't discover the available services, so can't connect. So I tried to downgrade to the original T68m firmware that was first installed into the phone, R2C004. For my surprise, Bluetooth still don't work! I removed and reinstalled all Bluetooth software in the computer and in my notebook. No success! Help!

Thanks,

Julio

Do I have to buy credits to upgrade the firmware if I already have the firmware files here? is the program locked util I buy credits? or will it work without credits if you already have the firmware files?

@haack,
You can upgrade your firmware here in Mexico with General Cooper. That's the Sony Ericsson Service Point and they did it for my T68m. I had SW R2B013 and i got to R2E006. Iīm planning to do myself a R5C001 upgrade, but i have to get first the service cable. I donīt recommend to do the R5D upgrade because that firmware is intended for the T68ie (just adds chinesse language to the mobile) and some minor changes. My upgrade was made last week.
@everyone,
When I got my HBH-30 i noticed some "crackling" sounds when answering a call via the headset, so i decided to upgrade my software with SE SP. Now it seems to work better but i still hear the same sounds (less intensity and frequency). Anyone with HBH-30 working crystal clear reception?

There's something definitely fishy with BT after an upgrade on certain machines...

I updated one of my AT&T T68i's to the T68ie R5D007 and now bluetooth is not working for me.. Downgrading to my AT&T T68i R3C001 doesn't fix the problem. Note that Bluetooth was working before the flash..

The problem is that the phone can't be discovered anymore, but it can discover other machines.. Even though you can discover other machines and pair up, the PC is not able to connect to any of the phone's services.

It must be that it hits only certain combos of firmware as my

Cingular T68i -> updated to my AT&T T68i R5C001 firmware works just fine with Bluetooth..

I saw the note regarding possibility of the % stopped at 99% during ARM Chip write, could that lead into BT hit-n-miss problem, maybe?

Or do you guys who successfully flash firmwares always got 100% completion during the ARM Chip write?
