@nitro & max, by using the term ^you mean to say^ i was asking what ur take on it was. lol, attitude was the last thing on my mind. mis-understanding cleared? @max, i thought the 7650 was out before the t610? lol, if the k750 is brick what's the p990? @etaab, seems like u got some inside info on the p990 release. btw, guys i too wanna know what r the opinions of esato's members 'bout a phone, but i prefer to get the specs straight from the source.

No not at all, but sometimes in the past when its been rumoured that a phone has been delayed, a few days or weeks later its appeared in our local Vodafone shop..
SE always seem to suprise me at the end of the day, just when you think somethings never going to happen, it happens with added extras.
Oh, and btw, the 7650 was not the first camera equiped mobile phone, and neither was the T610. I forget which phone it was, but it was neither SE or Nokia.
@ max_wedge - functionality is what matters to me the most right now. Theres a few things i dont like about the P990i, but they're aspects i can live with to ensure i get the functionality that i need.
The previous P series phones could not do what i wanted of them, and that is why ive always used a SE phone, and a seperate Windows based PDA combo. The P990i should now be able to do that, and if not, well i'll go back to Windows but keep the P990i also.
Unless Nokia tempt me with their N92 or N80.

Agree with what you say about functionality and pda's. I've held off on the P910 for exactly the same reason - compared to the K750 it's useful only for running symbian apps.
I use my XDAii for smartphone functions for the time being.
Actually I also find the size a turn off, so I'm sorta hoping something like the W950 with camera and wifi, that would be more suitable for me than the P990, as lovely a piece of kit that it is.
@ayk, the T610 was responsible for popularising the camera phone, that's what I meant by "pioneered". The first camera phone was introduced by Sharp, and it had a 100,000K camera. This resolution (352 by 288) the same as the T610.
The 7650 (and the sharp for that matter) never saw the mass market. They were high end phones destined for exclusive markets only. The T610 was the first non-smartphone mass consumer camera phone with a (sort of) decent resolution. There were some other mass produced camera phones with much lower resolution and were effectively useless whereas the T610 the pictures can actually be used for more than just displaying on the phone screen.
SE followed up with the K700, which was one of the first vga non-smartphone camera phones to hit the mass market. So SE are really responsible for popularising camera phones more than any other manufacturer.
Oh yeah, and I have no argument that the P990 is a brick. As I said to etaab, this has no bearing on the phones usefullness. I adore the P990, even if it is a brick.

It was this one, the J-SH04, a japanese model.

Not released anywhere else. My first digital camera was a 100K unit It was a casio, and had superb colour reproduction and was very clear for it's low resolution.

Ah, i thought it was that one, because my sister had one when she lived in Japan and brought it over with her on her Christmas visit in 2001.
Heres some of the pictures she took with it:
Remember Aibo ?
How far cameraphones have come in so few years. And then SE go and release the W950i without even a single camera !

What do you guys think how much is this beauty going to cost? I must admit i am leaning more towards the M600, i`m not much fan of a W series.. But w950 and it`s 4GB are just awesome. I am expecting M600 to be a little cheaper than W950 or am i wrong? What do you guys think?

M600 will almost certainly be cheaper if only because of memory configuration |

I want to be a SE customer. The product I want to buy is a W 950 + at least 3.2 MP camera with all the goodies that appear on K 800 + AGPS.
I expect that this will be W990 ? This specs run neck to neck against HTC's
Trinity which scheduled to come out Q3 or Q4 this year. So let see which one will come out first and I'll buy that one. |

I can live without a camera in the phone... mostly crappy anyway up to now... But I am actually torn between the P990 and the P950.
P990, everything in it... except need to buy at least a 2G MSD... will add up to quite a lot...
W950, though without camera, is slimmer, smaller and sexier. Mobile-review revealed it will cost about 100euro lesser than the P990 even though it has an astounding 4Gig flash memory...
P990 will hit the store first at Q2; thus I will be tempted first to buy it... only if I can wait for the Q3 W950... only time will tell... |
