Yup, I agree with Defensive, Maxtor one-touch hard drives are the quickest and easiest way to back up your data.

If you want to create an entire back up of your hard drive to DVD, then Norton Ghost is my preferred app:

However, if you only have a small number of important files to back up, a 1 or 2Gb USB pen drive might be adequate.

i need some help. not really pc related but you may be able to help. i have just brought a new mp3 player off an esato member but the fm radio is real crap. crapper than the free ones you can get. hardly picks up any signal. its a mp3 player off ebay so no warranty as far as i know. i love listening to the radio but its impossible. would this be hardware or software related. i have my old mp3 player here aswell which has a bad firmware. i was thinking that i could swap the fm chips but that would be way too hard. any other ideas?

It's almost certainly going to be hardware related and I'm afraid to say that there's not really a lot you can do about it

If the mp3 player has a socket for an external antenna then you could get one of those long wire type antennas and try that. Might improve reception quite a bit.

I don't think it's possible to swap the 'fm chips' over. Even if the mp3 players were identical, they're likely to use surface mount IC's which makes them practically impossible to de-solder, at least not without specialist equipment.

Does the Beep come from the speakers, or does it come from inside the PC itself? if it's coming from the PC, the only way to stop it would be take the side off and disconnect the speaker cable from the motherboard.

its coming from the computer, not the speakers.
but i never used to have this sound. i wonder why it started when i re-installed windows. there must have been something to make it stop before right?

the sound is really annoying too... in some way it reminds me of an old 56K modem hahaha (not the sound, but the quality of it lol)

@ECS

Usually, the PC speaker kicks in when the sound drivers aren't installed properly or aren't the correct drivers. Uninstall and then reinstall the sound drivers, making sure that you install the latest version of the correct drivers. Some sound drivers will work even if they are the wrong ones for your sound device, but they can cause problems like you describe.

@Dude

It could be because you're in a bit of a bad reception area for the type of reciever that the MP3 player uses. Even though a bigger radio works fine, it's likely that the reciever in your mp3 player is going to be a bit puney. Unless you can attach an external aerial, I really can't think what else to suggest

One thing to consider, was the seller stretching the truth a little with regards to the radio reception
