Since Mobile Nigeria is closing down, I am seriously considering creating a mobile phone forum for my subs. I think it is imperative. Just letting U all know. I don't have enough disk space in my free 5k hosting service yet, but that will be solved soon.

Good move

Well, I am very comfortable hanging out here. This is not to disparage the shutting down of MN, but it does remind me of what someone recently said to me about most Nigerian projects being short-lived. MN was running on full steam. It was kicking dust - generating traffic and stimulating real discussions. IMO, you do not kill a winning idea.

The "new MN" at Nairaland is so... dry. And very little stimulating issues are being discussed in the other threads.

Those other threads could have been integrated into MN, just like Esato has mobile-free threads. Or simply allow MN and Nairaland to co-exist.

Ahhh... I talk too much. Thankfully, Esato is still here, and I jolly well feel at home

@egunje: The 9500 is what I call the "Ultimate Communicator". Believe me when I say I am able to do "everything" on it. If only Glo would solve the GPRS problem on my cell.

@ mamba, got it for 24.5k. A real robbery for a smartphone and believe me this set handles the symbian sw like any nokia smartphone and beats the nokia 6600,7610 and 6670 in compact size, stunning mp3 player and availability of 32mb user memory.

@ Areafada, will send you an mms when I get my new contract line tomorrow.

@all, how about this for a holiday joke....

After digging to a depth of 100 meters last year,
Russian scientists found traces of copper wire dating
back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their
ancestors already had telephone network 1000 years
ago. So not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed,
American scientists dug 200 metres and headlines in
the US papers read: "US scientists have found traces
of 2000 year old optical fibres, and concluded that
their ancestors already had advanced high-tech digital
telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians." One
week later, the Nigerian newspapers reported the
following: "After digging as deep as 500
metres,Nigerian scientists have found absolutely
nothing. They have concluded that 5000 years ago,
their ancestors were already using wireless.

@brym: You've got me in stitches with that one

Where did you dig that joke up from?

@egunje: Blackberry is not supported by any operator here, plus you may have to wait an eternity for it.

An online party is interesting. But getting everyone together at the same time will be a hurdle.

Damn, you beat me to it.....a friend sent me the joke a few days ago.
Its still funny though

AYA: About the online party, we just give notice and maybe a teaser like what we will yak about. Why don't you moot it, maybe suggest a time and lets see what happens.

Pity about the blackberry. Didn't think anyone would be offering it.

Blackberry: manufactuer, of handsets, software and operator of dedicated servers that handles email. Main advantage: Ability to "push" email, as opposed to the regular "pull".......abi AYA
