Yeah, the store in Birmingham refused to sell me a sim free phone and the only contract they'd let me have it on was a 30 quid one.
Two other local O2 shops were fine about sim free sales though. They had quite a few left but said they were selling quick. |

Does anyone know which USB cable to use for the K700i ??
K700i is not listed as compatible device under neither DCU-10 og DCU-11 on S//E website.
And does anyone know if the USB cables gives faster transfer speed than BT or IRDA ?? |

I believe you should be able to use any of them. I use the USB connection on the P900 sync station myself
The driver for these USB cables installs them as a virtual COM port and so the connection is serial and therefore slower than IR or BT

I think it has something to with the the fact that you can now lock the phone in functions other than the standby screen now, for example in the radio and the media player, but I haven't come up with a total reason yet as to why that should make a difference

@masseur: in BT and IrDA they also install a virtual COM port

You use GPRS to connect on wap sites on your phone. |

hmm - but my irda on my laptop say it connects with the K700 at 115200bps - even though ive chosen 4.000.000bps in the irda settings.
This indicates some kind of serial emulation of the irda also. And why does s//e state high speed transfer on their website for the usb cables if they only emulates a serial port and dont use the usb speed at all. Then it wont be highspeed but max 115200bps and I might as well just get the normal serial cable then. I dont get it :-/
Seems no matter what I choose or do - I wont get speeds above 115200bps.
Just called s//e support and they confirmed that both irda and usb cables emulates comports which maxes out at 115200. Next try will be BT to see if this is a tiny bit faster

@rmcrys, good point, but my understanding is that the BT and IR use the infrastructure of those technologies and therefore have the maximum speeds available, whereas the USB cable driver that supplies is limited to serial port speeds
I'm not 100% on this so happy to be corrected by someone knowledgeable

yes, they are stereo. There are two ear pieces, and button to answer and end calls and a microphone and a cable clip

What worries me is how fragile the SE headphones are. Every pair of headphones ive owned normally end up broken within a couple of weeks, usually the cable that goes into each earpiece gets pulled hard whilst in my pocket, and then the speakers start crackling really bad..
Just called CPW, still no K700's.
This is p*ss*ng me off !
