I really get pissed off when someone calls SE Sony!!
I think I should start calling SE Ericsson
Regardless, this is looking like what you pointed out goldenface, that SE may just be Google's preferred partner. Hopefully this means current Android versions and maybe SE being the first with the new OS or upgrade. They better up their game in software development/management/engineering cause I don't see Google waiting on them if they end up being the preferred choice.
Next year is beginning to look interesting for SE.

Well obviously google is going to want SE to be successful if they are to be a preferred partner.
It clear to see that the best way for SE to differentiate itself and carve itself a large and profitable niche is to leverage Sony's gargantuan media and content services onto as many Android devices a possible.
I remember last year they mentioned Android appearing on devices other than phones and again this has recently been mentioned.
Sony wants to offer its films, TV, music and games and the best way to do this it seems is to offer cloud based streaming and download services on high-end phones and PMPs with large screens and great connectivity using Android's OS.

This is going to be big for Sony and SE, imagine the kind of content the devices will be able to share. Obviously for SE it will depend on how much leverage Sony affords them. Bert did say that they are moving closer to Sony which hopefully means a holistic approach in streaming content.
The question I have is who is going to make the tablet and maybe the netbook as well.
Sony have the experience (Windows mainly) while SE tends to mess the software part up. I have a feeling SE will be given a slice of the pie to compete with the other mobile phone manufacturers.
I am also wondering when will the Chrome OS for tablets evolve to such a degree that it can compete head on with Windows.
I can just see myself with an SE phone and netbook.

Well will not make tablets or netbooks. Bert made it clear that they rather let SONY make tablets. So don't expect any tablets or netbooks. Though we may certainly expect SONY tablets soon |

I remember Bert saying something to that effect but I have a feeling that decision will be reversed. Motorola have a tablet lined up, LG is 'waiting' for a 'reliable' Android version while Samsung has one out in the market already.
This is a situation that SE cannot let go on without being involved in. This is a lucrative market that they need to tap.

... then there's RIM, Dell, HP and the list goes on. Every mobile manufacturer is getting into this so why not SE. Nokia will also have a Meego tablet in the future.
SE needs to wake up and smell the Gingerbread!

Way too much for current condition it force them out of this competition, IMHO I don't think will have capable to launch both High-End type of devices.
but SONY might capable of this and PSP long expecting instead

To be honest I'm not expecting any tablet from SE with more than 7" screen, I'd expect bigger from Sony and possibly VAIO branded IF any Sony branded tablet were released with android (I'd personally expect Chrome OS if not windows) it'll be later than other manufacturers as I believe SE and Sony have issues resolving who will release what type of product.
Of course SE will want the run of tablets and Sony will too. It's a grey area that if both companies went at they could possibly effect the other's market.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Specs sound almost unbelievably high. your essentially saying the x12 will be twice of what the x10 is. The reason i dont buy the specs is mainly because I almost doubt that SE would be the first to break through such spec barriers. And not only break through them, but shatter them. If SE was planning such a phone, samsung, lg, and nokia would be close on their tail with an announcement with a phone that trumps whatever SE announced, and we would have most likely heard rumors of those phones already.
Heres to hoping im wrong. |

Lets discuss the specs for a moment and try and see if they are actually "unbelievable"
16.4 MP camera with xenon flash and 1080P video recording - It was announced by Sony a few weeks back, nothing unbelievable about it.
4 inch OLED with multi touch - Again nothing unbelievable.
16gb Internal memory with micro SD card slot - Even a not so expensive Nokia X6 has this
512mb GPU- I guess in the X10 the GPU gets around 150-200mb right? So nothing unbelievable in 512 mb for the GPU with the X12.
Android Gingerbread OS - Motorola already announced a device with Android 2.5 and since the X12 will ship after that device its natural that the X12 shall have the same OS version
1GB RAM - Some phones already have 768 mb RAM. So nothing unbelievable there as well
1800mah battery - Even for X10 you can get 1800mah and even 3600mah betteries.
So ? Whats really unbelievable about the specs?
