My K800 just took a beating the other day and left an ugly patch of exposed plastic right above the joystick

A question:
How exactly does BestPic work? Does it keep taking photos while saving only the last 4 or what? Essentially I want to know how the phone decides a photo is about to be taken and starts saving pictures...
And what is the frequency of these pictures? The time delay between any two of them that is... |

Hi,
Best pic takes 9 pictures. You hold down the shutter halfway which basically tells it to start thinking, then a full press takes 9 pictures, starting with the 4 before and 4 after the "middle" when you pressed fully. It takes them very fast, for instance one or two walking strides would be 9 pictures. They are all as high quality as the stills and are full 3mp which is amazing for a cell phone.
After the 9 pictures are taken, you can choose which to save, 0-9 of them. Be careful, if you close the slider or hit the back button before you click the ones you want, you lose all of them! |

UPDATE! I took it to an SE store around here and they replaced the softkey area for around 5 euros. All spankin new now
Ever wondered how come the black/silver K800/K790s have the purple back light and the brown ones, blue? Check this out:

More interestingly, you can see here that the joystick edges is covered and doesnt let dust in!

It's good to know the K800 has the joystick area protected this time. I guess SE learned their lesson with the K750i...

I have a spare top keypad section that has red rubber on the rear which shows through as red when attached to the phone.
Came with a red K800 housing.

Hi all,
I have had the phone (k800i) for about a month and a half, and I must say it is brilliant. However, there have been some small problems.
(the phone is in great condition and has never suffered any falls, unusually high temperatures etc nor have I been playing with it from dawn to dusk. Just regular, careful use)
The first issue is that once, a good while ago, and once, just a few minutes ago, the phone seemed to lose date and time information. This is normal if you remove the battery I think. This last time I am almost certain it is because I let the battery discharge to the point the phone shut down itself, and then recharged and the info was lost. I guess this is the reason so not a problem. I don't remember what the reason might have been the first time, but just asking if anyone has had this problem - not related to battery trouble.
The second issue...more annoying. It didn't happen at all the first 20 days or so. Started around Christmas time. Well, I would be using the phone nicely, touching buttons etc...you would expect backlight to stay on. However, on occasion, the phone screen would switch to sleep mode (lights off, only clock) immediately. As if I had let it rest for 15 seconds. But I hadn't - it was barely 2 seconds since I last pressed a key, on my way to file manager or somewhere else. Yet the screen would go to sleep mode.
This seemed to start happening out of no reason. The only thing that could have ever possibly caused it on my part, is that I turned down screen brightness from 90% to 80%. Nothing else, it just happened on its own.
In early January I upgraded to latest firmware. Switched brightness to 90% then immediately back to 80%. The problem seemed to cease for a while but I guess i just didn't happen to notice. Since a few days now it's happening a few times per day, again.
So, I would be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on this Has this happened to anyone and are there any clues about what might have caused it? Firmware problem, hardware problem...that brightness thing (just a wild guess as I changed nothing else on it before it started).......or simply a defective product? I skimmed through the most common k800 threads but couldn't find an answer.

@Pavlos: I think the best thing to do is to take it to the service center. It seems to be a hardware problem since you've updated the firmware and yet things didn't get fixed.

Can you post a pic of that [red K800]? Is it a special edition K800 or something, cos i havent heard of a red one until now. Ive been thinking about getting my bro a red K750 (which I find tacky, but my 15-yr-old bro wants it). Let's see how a red K800 stacks up

So the phone IS capable of saving a large number of high quality pictures rapidly... wonder why they can't save, say, VGA photos at 15 fps... essentially take videos at such a resolution... |
