I am getting more and more accustomed to the K850i however there are a couple of points.

1. It is still hard to get used to texting with the phone as keypad on the K800i was far more compact so could type alot faster with it.

2. My Best Pic function doesnt seem to work. I dont know if that is just an error in the o2 firmware or...

3. When viewing pics in the media player, if you try and delete a picture it doesnt delete it from the view. I think the picture is deleted but it still shows up in the media browser.

These are all firmware issues so really I am just waiting for a new update release.

Other then that I'm liking the phone. 8 out of 10.

Also additionally I dont think you can take the shutter sound off. You get an option of 4 sounds but even on silent mode it sounds. Ver annoying.

I use a mac and don't seem to be able to get the media manager to seperate images into their photo albums. They all just get listed under camera album as one huge folder. Can someone using PC Suite let me know how the file/folder structure works so I can copy my files into File Manager in the same way? Thanks!

I'm waiting for a firmware upgrade too, I have a few bugs with my Voda firmware, but I can turn the shutter sound off. The option sits alongside the other 4 sound options. Why on earth would O2 remove that feature from their firmware...
I have a dig bick

usually when a phone comes without the ability to silence the camera it's due to privacy legislation - ie: the carrier is forced by the law to ensure it's not possible for camera phones to be silent when taking a picture.

Every SE I've ever had was the same. Except the T610, the law hadn't been implemented at that point. But my K700, K750 and K800 ALL couldn't turn off the shutter sound. I had to hack them all to get shutter off in silent mode to work.

It's not a bug or even SE's choice - they have to do it that way to conform to local legislation.

My K800i, also from O2, never had a shutter sound during silent mod even after numerous replacements and firmware upgrades. Hmm shame.

what does this have to do with phone discussions? and how many times does this need to be posted?

EDIT : back on the topic of phones, someone in another forum mentioned the "touch sensitive" keys being activated by the cheek pressing against the screen during a call. has any of the k850 users experienced this problem?

The fact that you want the shutter sound to be turned off suggests you want to use your camera for the exact things that the shutter sound has been turned off to prevent! This means taking photos of things or people without permission, especially in places such as changing rooms, etc. Which is pretty sick. O2 is just being responsible, I think the New Zealand Vodafone Sony Ericsson firmwares cannot turn off the shutter sound either. Anyway this is rather off topic, sorry.

that is the biggest load of crap and a complete insult to anyone who wants to disable the shutter sound for perfectly legitimate reasons.

If you get your own mind out of the gutter you will see some people do have legitimate reasons for silencing the camera.

For example,
1. I take many photos of birds and wildlife with my camera. I have to get as close as physically possible (no optical zoom). When you are very close and take a photo, the shutter sound scares the wildlife away.
2. At family gatherings where everyone knows you have a camera and no one minds you taking photos, but still when they hear the shutter sound it disturbs their spontaneity and makes it very hard to get spontaneous natural pictures of people.
3. Spontaneous photos of pets.

These are three very real reasons why someone would want to disable the shutter sound.

So I would thank you to stop making moral judgements on people in this forum for no good reason.

FYI - did you ever think that the artificial sound of the shutter releasing is annoying? That is why all of my digital cameras, at least those that make the artificial sound, and cell phones have this most annoying sound turned off.

THANK YOU for this very POSITIVE and REAL post!

* I for one love to be able to take a photo in a club - a PUBLIC environment to capture a peaceful or fun moment. A couple - that I personally ASKED for permission to take a photo within 5mins no later (so they knew if getting extra close I would NOT take a photo of them) - and they said yes. It was magic to see to ppl that cared about each other enjoying the same thing.

Kids at a birthday party become VERY SHY at just having fun or cutting cake when they hear that photo sound.
