^truer words were never said. sony does make too many models trying to cater to every different type of person who wants A, B, C but not D E F, and every variation inbetween.
They should just do low end, mid end, high end. DONE.

They set a pretty good precedent last year (single universal architecture with five core phones, two revisions, and three niche devices that were all derived from the core phones). It's kinda disappointing that within two months of the year's beginning they had already deviated by having S3-based phones as well as U8500-based phones. |

The high-end Xperia acro S is
Sony's first Android 4.0 handset
to be announced for the global
market. This Ice Cream
Sandwich-flavored handset is
also dust- and water-resistant,
though it's not as tough as the
Xperia go.
The acro S sports a 4.3-inch
720p HD display, a 1.5GHz
dual-core processor and comes
with a whopping 12.1-megapixel
camera. Like the Xperia S, the
camera on the acro S is able to
take a photo in over a second
from sleep mode.
Availability: Q3 2012 (global) |

Looks like Acro S will not be available on asian region as well, seems like only Xperia go will see the daylight, what's the point announcing the phone globally then?

I think countries that are going to have the ion won't have the acro S, and the countries with the acro S won't have the ion.
IMO, both devices should be cancelled to make way for LT29i. The niches of each phones are overlapping. Like so one said earlier, 3/4 new phones every 6 months are more than enough. High, mid, low and maybe a keyboard, and make every phone as global as they can.

Make them cheaper! that way they'll sell like hotcakes while giving LT29i the ground to stand therefore effectively preventing them from overlapping. It will also give Sony a much better image. t's a win win scenario for sure!
EDIT: looks like I'm very much mistaken, Acro S will be available on asian regions as well as some countries in europe, but still it's quite weird that UK won't be having this device when that country is supposed to be one of the leading markets for this.

Interesting, Acro S supports FLAC playback
Hopefully coming to the S when it gets ICS.
Although it would be nice if it had the same format support as the Tablet S, that is, full WMA (including WMA Lossless) support..All my music is in WMA Lossless haha, but then again no way would it fit on 16GB of internal memory and a 32GB microSD card.
