Hi guys, my mother recently got a BB 8900 Curve, and she absolutely loves it BUT just on thursday afternoon it "died" ,she was entering the code to unlock the keypad but then it suddenly whiped out everything and then it tried to recover everything but just got stuck in that white screen with the restore icon in the middle, so we took it in to Voda today and they said it had a virus and should be fixed and ready by Monday. What i want to know is are there realy viruses for the BB OS? or are the guys at Voda clueless? Its the 1st time i hear of a BB with a virus,on top of that she never surfs the web with it, she uses for push email, texting, GPS and calls. The only thing shes installed herself was Voda's GPS app and service the night before which was what was recommended by the Voda technician when she phoned Voda customer care to activate the GPS service.

I've heard of a virus going about by adding people to BBM, as for the virus I don't know what it does...

sounds to me like your mother typed the password in wrong more than the set number of times and the phone wiped itself.

So very true, I'd put good money on it not being a Virus, when you get the 502 (I think) error with the box sometimes a quick battery pull will resolve that or an "alt, caps & del", failing that reloading the OS from DTM will fix it 9.5/10!

She had only entered it once,it was after confirming that it did this, thanx a lot for the help though guys. Voda have taken it to a 3rd party to be repaired they said,so not sure when it will be back. Was also not convinced that its a virus thanx a lot for confirming it wasnt.

Guys, is there a feature on the BB Pearl, that allows the user to set a password on the emails and the memopad? So you have to enter a word/number to access them?

Thanks.

Remember that story about a Bluetooth BlackBerry Watch accessory being in the works? In case you were doubting it, today we can say with certainty that it's happening, it's getting announced soon, and what you're looking at above (another image below) are actual renderings of the real deal. Key features we've been told so far about the BlackBerry-connected smartwatch by our source:

it has been designed specifically for BlackBerry from the ground up - developed by a new BlackBerry-dedicated accessory company
it features an OLED screen that we hear is "big, bright and beautiful" and optimized for displaying text clearly, and thanks to OLED has solid battery life
it's designed to show you notifications and previews of messages arriving on your BlackBerry
judging by the filename of the photos as they were sent in to us, we're thinking it's going to branded the inPulse smartwatch
The intent of the watch isn't to replace using your BlackBerry to view messages. Rather, it's for those occassions when your BlackBerry is tucked away - while in a meeting, while driving, or while you're out for a bike ride and you feel it vibrating in your camelback. When you get that impulse to stop what you're doing and pull out your BlackBerry, now you can quickly glance over at your inPulse and decide if you need to pull out your BlackBerry to address that message now or if it can wait fifteen minutes you're free.

Definitely a cool accessory. And because this smartwatch is desiged specifically for BlackBerry, we're thinking hoping that at somepoint the watch APIs will become available to BlackBerry app developers so even notifications from third party apps could be displayed. CrackBerry heaven! We'll bring you the official details on this when they emerge soon

I think i might have a fault with my 8900, on occasions the camera turns on and start taking pictures, without me even touching it. I sometimes wake up and find around 30 picture on my phone of my night stand. This is really annoying but more so really drains my battery. Would this be a hardware fault or is it more likely to be software?
