Same way you configure 2.5G phones. Very little difference. Glo settings are here: http://gosmartmobile.com/glodatasettings.shtml |

mtel should concentrate on providing basic gsm services like making and receiving of calls. from the pronouncements of the CEO momife it appears their GPRS will be on ground by next year. |

What's the big deal with free MMS? Most networks won't allow you to send more than 100kb.

@oto: Nope. Mtel says it will launch GPRS this month. Unfortunately, I cannot send any MMS at the moment, as its not functioning at my location: "MMS server not responding" is what I get. @brix: Depends. General opinion is that the regular MMS tariff is expensive, so an opportunity to use it for free would be exciting to most subscribers, I guess.

@AYA: I can't recall the last time I actually sent someone an MMS...It's pretty cheap down here but most people would still prefer sending an sms.

@brix: I agree. I hardly ever use it. My opinion till date is that its a "vanity feature". Very little real use. I predicted long ago that MMS use will be insignificant; I was right. Even now that MMS is free, people hardly use it still.

Some cheerleader for Vodacom on the SA thread boasts that GPRS speeds on our biggest network have improved as of Sunday... I'm yet to see my T68i react favourably to this supposed boost in speed.

I would love to post more in the SA thread but honestly I don't understand what U Guys talk about there. Very advanced stuff. |

@coolapostle: LOL We're just having a debate about the merits of forking out a fortune for a technology(3G) that hasn't been proved...In the same breath it should be said that I would get myself a 3G phone if the service was reliable and the handsets were affordble.

@AYA according to mr momife mtel will launch their GPRS next week, i went to glo center to get my handset configured and they told me that it will take a whole week b4 i start browsing with it. even here in uniport the GPRS is very epileptic (right now its not working) guess i have to fall back on my Mtel that i deactivated last week. |

@otokx: No sentiments about it. Simply re-activate your Mtel line if it gets the job done :-) @brix: I have enjoyed your 3G debate quite some. I very much doubt how successful 3G will be under the present circumstances in most of Africa. Maybe in another couple of years, it'll be a real spinner.
