Guys.. Xperia 1 is the premium smartphone.. Zackbuks confirmed it.. You can go to weibo and see his post.. How much premium do you want 4k is the premium, ain't it?

@Alvin why are you so keen upon June launch? Just a hunch or have you got any info?

Ah, didn't know that.

I was thinking there could be room for a Premium with features like folding screen, Light-based camera tech, more RAM, larger storage... Those things alone would be enough to justify a Premium moniker.

Anyways, back to the Xperia 1, I think we're pretty certain it has OIS this time around?

Phone is shaping up nicely! I'd seriously consider upgrading if I didn't still love my XZ Premium. I probably won't upgrade until next years flagship unless something SUPER amazing shows up.

If I didn't misinterpret or wrongly translate what Zackbuks said in his weibo page, Sony is working on 5G and Foldable screens.

@Alvin You smashed all my hopes then.. I was hoping 4 g version for March, 5g for june.. Like every other manufacturer.. But anyways.. I ain't buying it.. Don't have the money right now anyways.. It is gonna be costly in india.. More than 78000 rupees which equates to $1100?

Nifty. We know Sony's been working on flexible OLED for the longest time. I wonder if they'll be sourcing panels from the same place as everywhere else or if they'll have something of their own, possibly from JDI

If I'm not mistaken, last time we had Sony Ericsson X1 and sometimes called SEX1, SEXI (pronounce as Sexy). . Now we will have Sony Xperia 1 or is it Sony Xperia One ?

@tony Better than june but still horrible timing.. Why so late? While most other manufacturers would be basking in glory after having sold millions of their flagships, Sony would start selling them then.. Wow..

@madmiraj

Phones in India (and my country too!) have always been cheaper than phones in Europe so you might get your Xperia 1 at... Let's say Rs 70,990.

Hmm, looking at the Nokia 9 camera samples on GSM Arena they're pretty decent. Really makes me wonder if and when Sony will make a Light cameras of their own.

Also very curious how the X1 will compare. Not much longer now! What time's the presentation?

EDIT

6 more hours, right?

Sumahoinfo Just posted that 1 is going to be the costliest xperia ever.. 949 euros.. Wow!

Also.. I was checking yesterday's pictures that Alvin posted.. I don't think that Ambient flow has completely disappeared.. There are curves to the flagship still.. The back is not completely flat.. It is thinner than XZ3 but definitely not like the previous ones..

Yup, ambient flow elements are still there but they're putting some omnibalance elements there (frame, rear logos, corner roundness).

1) 12 MP wont be enough to have 8MP 21:9. Without this no 4K.
2) all 12MP cams have to fake details due lack of info enough. More MP, more info captured.
3) coward way to hide noise using smaller crop. Everybody know less resolution = less noise
4) DP AF will never be improved , something HAF can be by softaware development, even Xiaomi gave up on it on Mi9.
5) OIS has jelly effects ...
6) without mono/aube , no iso12800 for video..... Night footage from iphone Xs looks 480p compared to XZ2P. Same for XZ3
7) stacking comes with blur at night
8 - everyone knows these "tele" still use digital zoom instead of optical. Small sensors are crappy (smaller than 1/3")
9) if it has UWA, be sure there will be distortion. And most wont use... Of course they know DxO will add UWA to the score soon.

I was expecting this year Sony to keep RGB + Mono and use DRAM inside both to allow 4K.
Maybe more shots for Predective Capture, like 8 instead of 4.

What's the point of using a component that is worse than previous generation????
What's next, IFA phone with ridiculous screen hole?
