I find it funny that they are releasing that 8 megapixel phone first out of all the 8 megapixel phones out! What about the C905, Samsung Innov8 or LG Renoir? I guess they are quite old now and that samsung has just been released. Just seems like better camera focused hansets are not being sold over here?
That's what I thought. Seems kind of an obscure choice for a first 8MPer. At least it shows they are a bit more dedicated to getting the latest phones in on time, but it makes me wonder where the three you mentioned are, if they are even coming.
Also, the other day I noticed that Telecom are using codenames for their releases. Well at least for the W705. On the advertising for it, it says "Sony Ericsson W705 (Rika)". This was in the actual store! I got a photo which I might upload later on.

This is a good sign! It shows they've upped their game and are matching XT as they said they would. Competition is working so far!

It's only a dummy.
I'm quite sure Telecom is going to have at least some branding, similar to the live! right softkey on Vodafone branded phones.

If anyone is keen for a very cheap low end Sony Ericsson phone, look no further.
EDIT: I spose it's not that great a deal compared to 1day's usual, but here's a heads up anyway.
EDIT AGAIN: Anyone get $1000 account credit today? See here. Surely they could have shared it out better than that. I mean how long does it take to use a grand?! I think more people would be more grateful if it was 10000 lots of $100 credit.
EDIT 3: Haha. K Vodafone is doing that Samsung 8 mega pixel a lot cheaper than expected! $899 launch price. I expected over $1000!

The million dollars is being given away on Thursday 28th.
Also, Vodafone CEO Russell Stanners will have an announcement to make on TV One's Breakfast show tomorrow morning about 7:30am. If you miss it, TVNZ on-demand should have the video up by about 9am. Otherwise, I suspect whatever it is will be all over the news...

Before you start patting Telecom on the back, just think about where we'd be if Telecom had introduced a GSM network in 2001 instead of a CDMA network...
TBH the real impact will come when 2 Degrees arrive with a low-cost strategy and attempting to make mobiles a real alternative to landlines which is long overdue. The latter will take time to implement as it appears that Telecom is blocking 2 Degrees and the Commerce Commission will have to make a judgement on the matters involved. Unfortunately the ComCom is too busy ATM and it'll have to wait.
Edit: BTW, Vodafone is giving away a N85 every day during June when you top up your Prepay with 20 or more.

So anyone score some free credit? Carkitter, I'd say you'd be pretty deserving with the amount you pay them and the length of time you've been with them.

Did you try entering your number on the site? It will likely end in disappointment, but if you wanna try...
And by the way, is it just me or does the guy in the video seem a little bit unprofessional? Seems like he could have rehearsed his lines a few more times.
Also, when did number porting become available in NZ? Because I'm seeing a few 027s come up in that thing in the link. As far as I know, number porting hasn't been available that long, so how can Vodafone be sure they are "loyal customers" as they put it?

Number portung was around 2007 I think. The networks can tell them apart, cause my perants are on vodafone with 027 numbers, and free weekends and txt2000 still count (as in I don't have to pay 20c a text)
