So you don’t regard the P900 as an upgrade to the P800.

No, my point is the P910 is more of an upgrade from the P900 then the P900 to the P800

Am I wrong? - talking hardware here!

No the P910 replaces the P900 but that doesn’t mean that it is the next phone in the Pxx(x) series. There are too few design/tech changes.

Like I said before, the P910 is more of an upgrade then the P900

Dont forget that people use devices for different reasons. You dont need Pro support your telling me, where I do, So is a P900 a upgrade for me? no! is the P910 a PROPER upgrade for me YES!

I don't think Wi-Fi is a necessary feature at this point due to the technology's virgin existence. I subscribe to a Wi-Fi service through one of my carriers, however, I've only been able to connect to the internet only twice in the past few months (with my PPC). Half the time the hot spots are hosted by a different carrier that requires a min/per use subscription fee or longer term. That's not feasible for me as I have not found a general Wi-Fi pass service that would allow me to connect to any carrier without paying per usage charges.

As far as purchasing a P910 the bottom line is the $$. The features are definately there and is worth the investment. I already have purchased 32 128mb DUOs in the past year because my hands were tied with the memory limitations. I don't expect to pay anywhere near 700 euros for a P910 as I assume I will end up paying more. I paid a little over 1000 euros for my P800 (Jan '03) and over 1500 euros for my P900 (Oct '03). So not getting a P910 at this juncture would be counter productive for me.. I like to think that it's worth paying more for what you want if you can have it when you want it.

Ok I had some second thoughts about the P910i. When I upgraded the P800 I had some reasons of getting my P900. Better screen display which 4096 colours seemed poor to me, firmware, and of cource reduced size.

Now am thinking on the other side why should I change into the P910i.

For the looks of it? And the no reduced size? Ok better display but am happy with my P900. The keyboard? Not so sure about it. Support of the 1GB Mem Stick Duo Pro? I still have my 128MB MSD with 35MB free memory still available. How about the opportunity of having better apps quality since the RAM is larger? Ok that a good reason! Hmmm! And once again a new keyboard with plenty of buttons to play some games but not so easy to write an e-mail unless I try it in person. And what about the purple lighting for the keyboard and keypad? This I need to see very closely.

Coming to an end I must admit that this is a model I will not anticipate to buy like I did with my P900. I remember I was the first person who bought the P900 in Greece. I will wait for the P910i to hit the shelves and take a good look at it before I buy. I hope it will look better from closer.

As an owner of a P800 and P900 I will sell both of them only if I like the P910i and with the money earned I will buy it. And am not talking about not having the money because there is no problem with this issue but only because I dont think is worth any extra money to spend... unless it is a better device than what I expect.

I wish SE would include different and better accessories for the P910. And not the same as the P900.

I also hope they alter the specs of P910 and include at least one of the ff:

-wi-fi
-better quality camera
-radio
-portrait/ landscape screen orientation
-or EDGE...

Because i really dont think it is a worthy upgrade to the P900.. It is an upgrade whether you like it or not y'know..

I wonder if the changes in MS Duo slot h/w also allows SDIO type functionality - if so SE could make an WiFi add-on! Now that would be much better than having to pay extra for WiFi if you can't really exploit it (e.g. in the UK). This would also keep the price down and make the Pxx0 more competitive with the likes of MPx and forthcoming WiFi & BT Palm OS Smartphones.

The keylight is lighted.. I think it's the same color as that of the K700i. I think i'd prefer blue like P900 but I really wouldn't know unless I see a P910

@P800_Zen_master

You make a good point about upgrading to the P910 because it has a feature that you need, but I wonder how many people will upgrade to the P910 just because it is the latest gadget. I have no need of any of the improved features of the P910 so I shall not be upgrading, as I stated previously I would like those features, but I see no point in tying myself into another contract when I would be better off waiting for the P1000 to be released, which will hopefully have the features I am in need of.
Ironically I remember saying that I wouldn't upgrade from the P800 to the P900 when it was released because of the reasons I have given above, but actually holding the P900 in my hand I just had to have it. Perhaps, therefore, I am unqualified or perhaps qualified, depending on which way you look at it, to speak on this issue.
As I have stated repeatedly I am unsure why there is so much jealousy and resentment from some of the people posting in this thread over the release of the P910, at the end of the day it is just another phone and when SE release their next smartphone I am quite sure the whole process will repeated again. Technology moves very quickly and I don't think anyone can seriously expect to keep up with it at all times.

@Scotsb-

I think a lot of UK residents are tied into contracts with the Pxxx series phones for more then one reason. That's why I always purchase my phones sim-free. There's usually a bigger price tag attached with 'sim-free', but as we've seen with the P900 and the online updates it is definately well worth it. Because there are no strings attached it feels like I'm just buying a gadget and not really a phone. So having to buy the latest gadget is as an obsessive behavior as my girlfriend having to buy the latest fashion shoes. I guess the cycle will go on.

People, PLEASE?! Why is there such tension and hostility? It's a bloody good phone. Those who don't think so, should not buy it, those who have the P900 and feel an upgrade is not necessary, don't upgrade -wait for the P1000, P800 owners who "waited" for a "real" upgrade, well done, upgrade, and to the dreamers, dream on!!!
