I live in Australia and i got a k700i last year and even when i turn my phone on silent, the camera will still make that awful noise. Does anyone know how to turn it off? And can the phone use mp3's as ringtones?

the camera sound in aussie model k700i's (or maybe it's just the vodafone ones) is linked to the ringer volume.

The ONLY thing that determines the camera sound on these models is the ringer volume. Therefore to turn the camera shutter sound off permanently is not really an option, since it means turning the ringer volume to zero.

You can use the meeting profile (in which the ringer vol is already set to zero), by pressing c, select profile, and then meeting. When u need a silent camera, you can change to meeting profile in less than a second once you get used to it.

Hi, Can anybody tell me how I can find out if my k700i has a simlock on it please?

I had it on an o2 contract, but that has run out now. I've tried putting a virgin PAYG simcard in which seems to work fine. Does this mean the phone is unlocked to any network? Can I put any networks sim card in?

Thanks in advance, Emma.

i read in a post here somewhere that the camera sound can only be muted in certain firmwares... if i may recall correctly, the camera sound can only be muted in R2L001 firmwares or earlier firmwares...

Yeah just heard that recently.. also some operators allowed mute camera on silent ringer, but some didn't (even on the old firmware)..

I'm lucky, vodafone allowed it , so as long as I don't update

I recently bought a K700i and I remember that my SE T610 had a trick to rearrange the caller list and make the first number on the list the last call, and not the last MADE (outgoing) call. Is there a similar trick for the K700i too?

Just found a new thing

The button on the side, when use for camera, could change the brightness of the picture.

yes, very handy. It's part of the big sell SE made with the K700i, being the first handset marketed as a Camera/Phone as opposed to a phone with a camera. It built on the success of the t610.

features include the two fronts design (one side looks like a camera the other side looks like a phone). The camera "front" sports a camera styled lense fascia.

Ergonomically, the camera includes dedicated exposure control and shutter release buttons. Personally, I think if they had put landscape mode on the K700i, then the placement of the buttons would be more sensible (turn the cam on it's side to take landscape pics, and normal for portrait)
