@dyobbs
You need to upgrade to R2D or R2F... uhm I mean you need R2D or R2F. So upgrade it to R2F and you shouldn't get this problem.

a great piece of software. works fine on R2D, just make sure you have plenty of space available on your phone's internal memory "C" otherwise it may crash as there is no option to install it to the memory card. i know its only the first beta but it would br great if:
1) Optional install to Memory card
2) Increased recording time. ie. a stop button so you could record as long as you want.
3) Increased frame rate for smother playback.
4) Audio would nice.
5) Brightness, contrast, ect. like on the comunicam
Please dont take the above as a critism. it is great that some people out there have been able to do what SE/// could not or could not be bothered to do. I am sure i speak for everyone that has been lucky enough to use this software "Many thanks and keep up the good work"
Regards

Hey with that version did you had the problem of batterry draining. I downloaded the camcoder application from another site and it worked well but it drained the battery like hell. Yours seems like a different file so is this a different version?

Have the camcorder since today this Afternoon (GMT time)
So don't know that yet!
Well maybe with the battery it is like this...
The camcorder (mine version) has a 'quit' option.. you can also leave the programme by taping ::
But if you leave by taping ::m if you start the camcorder again it is on your screen in about a second.
But if you 'quit' the programme and start it up again it needs like some 5 seconds when its there finally to begin recording...
So maybe there is a big difference by quiting/leaving the programme on your battery life?

The Bat. was 70% when I installed the CamCorder....
And I came downstairs (Just used the camcorder twice)..
And my P800 was switched off..
Didn't thought I did.
Switched it back on and it said Bat low...
So exactly the same thing... Going to look for you if more peeps have it. |

Here's a bit of info for you all based on my testing so far:
If you're playing a video and then pause the vid or go to another prog, when you return to Camcoder
you will find that the Camcoder program is still storing the vid in memory i.e. you will be met by the last vid you were watching and it will start to play automatically.
There doesnt seem to be a way to exit the video and browse for another vid (not unless you save all your vids on C:documentsmedia filesvideounfiled). In fact if you switch to another program and
then return to Camcoder it will automatically start playing the last video you were watching.
Perhaps it is this behaviour that is leading to battery drain that people complain of?
If you record a vid and then play it, it then becomes the default vid i.e. if you click on play button without selecting a vid it will play the the last thing you were playing
It has been suggested that this Camcoder program may become available as part of a future Firmware update either for this phone or the P810/900. I strongly suspect that this is so because once it is
installed is sets itself up as the default player for all MPEG4 files; so this would mean that there is no need to have the Packet Video Player except for the fact that.......
unlike Packet Video Player this Philips Camcoder cannot play files with AAC encoded audio (for example with the video supplied with the phone you get video but no sound). Packet video will play any MPEG4 file. If Philips can sort this issue out then it will be great.
But now for the really great bit:
The playback quality is absolutely bloody amazing compared to Packet Video. Firstly, full screen video really does mean full screen.....it covers the entire P800 screen with video playback. Packet Video on the other hand leaves a 5mm black band down each side of the video.
I played both the MPEG4 video supplied with the phone (The World of Connectivity) and a Matrix Reloaded trailer in full screen mode. In both cases I got fantastic results and nice smooth fast playback with the Philips Camcoder with very little noticable pixellation; I was having to look and strain to see the pixellation. The supplied Packet Video Player showed pixellation on the Connectivity video and appalling pixellation on the Matrix trailer. It might be worth mentioning that the Connectivity video is encoded with AAC audio whilst the Matrix trailer is audio encoded using AMR.
I did however notice that files produced by recording with the Philips Camcoder were not that great, showing a lot of pixellation.
At this moment in time I can't comment on battery drain but I will get back to your all on that one with my findings.
I have to say, though if they can get the program to support dual audio encoding plus all the other stuff I mentioned in previous posts, then WOW!!! Get those things sorted and I for one will be happy to pay for it rather than hoping for a Firmware update. In fact I would much rather it wasn't part of a Firmware update for the simple reason if they sell it to the general public, commercial reality dictates that they will have to produce a damn fine product.
Producing it for a Firmware update may not encourage them to put in the same amount of effort.
I look forward to playing with the Beta 2 version and indeed to the final product.
I really would like to see the ETI Camcorder by EyeMail ( http://www.eyemail.com.cn/Chi/camcoder/En_index.html# ) when it's available for the P800 to see if it can playback video as well as this can.
And a final comment, re MP4 encoding. It seems many people have been having problems or asking questions about the setttings required to get decent MP4 playback. From my testing it would seem that the issue is not that people are encoding their MP4's badly its that they are playing them back on a Player (Packet Video) that isn't good at doing the job.
