Just to add to the battery discussion the battery life on 1520 is excellent too. I also think Nokia should have added a larger battery life- look at HTC M8 windows-same screen size but apparently excellent battery life |

I easily get 24 to 36 hours from a full charge on my 930.
I get the feeling either people have lots of apps running in the back ground or there leaving location services / NFC on all the time. |

I agree with you. Easily get over a full 24hrs with 6-7 apps running in the background permanently and location services always on aswell.
I also really appreciate the ease of wireless charging and although it takes longer to charge the handset this way the ease of just laying it down on a charging plate at any time is really convenient. I have thee or four of these chargers around the house and at work (free gifts with previous phones) I haven't touched the wired charger of either my 1520 or 930.

As I said before previously the answer to that is a no. I never use NFC,location etc always turn these things off. Running in the background as I said before was two apps that is all

The inconsistency in battery life is rather strange.. some people get 40hrs, others can't get 8... its either the firmware or a hardware issue, but either way, too many problems for a flagship like that.
Is there a teardown anywhere ? I really want to see the thermal design of this phone... |

Check iFixit, if you can't find the 930 look for the Lumia Icon, shouldn't differ much if at all.

I've had issues with 2 930's now. One of them the back cover lifted and the other refused to boot up, both returned to the shop and exchanged, and your correct when you say that there are too many problems for a flagship phone.
Having said all that, the three handsets I've had all had pretty good battery life. Anybody who is only getting 8 hrs on a full charge must have a faulty battery and or handset.
Now I seem to have a faultless 930 I have decided to sell my 1520, which I will be doing tomorrow. I hope I don't live to regret the decision. The 1520 is a fantastic handset, the best display I've seen on a smartphone, but the 930 is easier to handle on a daily basis

I don't know what to think anymore. My cousin is so confused about if she should get this phone or not. It's a 50/50 scenario.
@lemmy She has her mind made up though I think so hopefully her experience turns out like yours.A happy one.

@Hobbs will she have a cooling off period like a set time she can return it if she isn't happy?? Like here some stores have 7,14 or 30 days to return, all depends on store or website. Like Amazon have a 30 day return period and in the UK we have the distance selling regulation which is the law.

Bonovox She'll be on contract so its a 7 day out of box return policy if the phone is defective in anyway. You guys seem to be lucky whereby 'I just dont like the phone anymore' seems to fall under faulty or defective phone.
Lemmy The 930 is taking its sweet bloody time making it into our South African stores and last she heard they said end of September.Shes pissed as hell. She coming from a Note 2 so the Note 4 isnt on her radar (also wants a change) but the iPhone 6 is what may sway her. I told her to just get the 1520 but Im thinking the size bothers her and after having the Note 2 for 2 years she just wants something smaller and more manageable. She really like my 1520 though and chances are she'll get the 930 regardless of all the negative user experiences.Lets just hope it comes here soon cause her patience is running out.

So far today from a full charge 4 hours ago I've used 18% battery.
Phone call's ( one lasting 20 minutes ) plenty of texts, my commute traffic alert, Facebook, Twitter & some internet browsing over mobile data.
My 930 at the moment estimates it has 27 hours left on the remaining battery life |
