Wassalam brother, masha'aalah thats great news
Beautiful message for mankind, i'm sure u agree brother!
If you can read the Life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), a beautiful and simple life he had, from the 1st day of prophethood till the age of 63 when he left this world, what a great example he was for us all. he lived a life of simplicity and great character for mankind to follow, he guided us on what God Almighty wants us to do and what has been forbidden.
His qualities are today followed around the globe even after 1400years and will remain till the final hour.

Peace be upon his soul.

Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarakatuhu

Brother Caspa, subhanAllah ... May Allah give you jazaa and ajar for finished the the Holy Quran ... and yes you are right , you should move on and like PK said, we should all be familiar with the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) .. and the hadeeths are the best way to do so ... Having said that, you should still continue to read the Quran ... little by little .. even one worse is good ... but do not stop reading the Quran ..

Quran is the book that teaches us how to live our life. Now saying that, we should not only read the Quran but understand it. Most of us are non-arabic speaking (including me), though I really want to learn arabic so that I can understand the Holy Quran better, the only alternative I have right now is to read the translation. I have learned a lot from reading the translation Alhamdolillah. And one thing that I learned, is that in the Holy Quran, Allah (SWT) have repeated many important verses, stories of the Prophets, guidance over and over again. What is the purpose of this repetition? In my opinion, it is because we human beings are created weak (mentioned in the Holy Quran) and we tend to forget things very easily. Therefore, Allah (SWT) has repeated important verses over and over again so that they can be stored in our brain and our hearts can act on them.

Therefore my brothers and sisters, make it a habit of reading Quran every day ... even 1 verse , but read it and understand it and act upon it .... May Allah help us all in understand the Quran and acting on it ..

Ameen Sum Ameen

Salam alaikum brothers...

I read the biography of the prophet (pbuh), 'The Sealed Nectar' prior to reading the Qu'ran... Couple of things... First, it is an amazing read and really brought me closer to my faith - everyone HAS to read it! Second, I found that reading it before the Qu'ran really helped in my understanding of the Qu'ran, in both context, language and events...

I definately agree with Naveed - The Qu'ran is to be read over and over, verse by verse... The repetition is a sign that we must remember and not forget as it is so easy for man to get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of life and forget the simply things - which are stated repeatedly in the Qu'ran...

I too would one day love to read the Qu'ran in Arabic, inshallah that day will come...

One thing that is mentioned in the Qu'ran that I was not aware of is the fact that it refers to mans fingerprints and the fact that they are unique to each individual!

EDIT: Amended name...

Some of the brothers at the Islam Channel introduced my friend and I to the recitation of the 'King of Recitors' - Abdul Baset (or similar) - If anyone hasnt listed to him before then I recommend you do as its truely amazing and sent shivers down my spine!

Peace be upon him and may allah be pleased with him, ameen.

Asalam o alaikum warah matullah wabarkatuhu

Criteria of becoming Imam

1.Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The one who is most versed in Allah's Book should act as Imam for the people, but If they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has most knowledge regarding Sunnah if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; if they emigrated at the same time, then the earliest one to embrace Islam. No man must lead another in prayer where (the latter) has authority, or sit in his place of honour in his house, without his permission. Ashajj in his narration used the word," age" in place of" Islam".

2.Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said to us: The one who is well grounded in Allah's Book and is distinguished among them in recitation should act as; Imam for the people. and if they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has most knowledge regarding Sunnah; if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; If they emigrated at the same time, then the oldest one in age. No man must lead another in prayer in latter's house or where (the latter) has authority, or sit in his place of honour in his house, except that he gives you permission or with his permission.

Hadeeth Qudsi # 25
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said:

Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him."

Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Last sermon:

After praising, and thanking Allah he said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib (Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived...

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

May peace be on his soul.

assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah...

For the single brothers searching for a muslimah like me...

"And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in peace and tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): Verily in that are signs for those who reflect" (Quran 30:21).

...

Prophet (pbuh) said "The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman" (Hadith - Muslim #3465)

...

and a person I hold in the highest of esteem introduced me to this poem (by Kahlil Gibran) which I believe is absolutely beautiful...

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

...

Wasalaam...
