masseur maybe this is a stupid question but how can i select multiple items on the file explorer (or in sms) ? I only can select them if they are next to each other... for exemple if want to delect a lot of sms that i dont want do i have to do it one by one or can i mark multiple items and them delect?

Mate, all you have to do is select and drag down. This will select txts in bulk. But I'm unsure how to select random txts to delete in bulk!

In fact, whilst we're on this topic, is it possible to select more than 1 contact at a time from Contacts? I want to select All contacts and bluetooth them to my other phone as Vcards.

yes i know that the problem is to select random SMS. And as for the contacts i think you cant even drag it like one SMS... not without 3rd p applications :s

yeah, we know that indeed miguel82 mentioned that in his original question for this issue.

Its selecting non consecutive files/messages etc that I'm not sure can be done without 3rd party apps

3rd party app?!?!?! No way. Surely a device such as this should be able to do such a simple task??? Even my rubbish N95 could do this!

Im getting increasingly frustrated already with the VIII

ah! in the back of my mind I had a feeling that you could do it and now I just remembered. For some reason I thought my old k-jam had a control key on the keyboard but while looking at a pic of the k-jam keyboard it came to me.

in fact I used to do this multiple select by bringing up the virtual keyboard, then you can just do it as you would on windows xp/vista etc, i.e. select one file, click the control then select another file, and another and another. In this mode the control key remains selected until you click it again

works for messages too

no, it doesn't work in contacts but it does work in file manager and messages

but then neither does holding shift and scrolling down so I guess contacts app isn't designed for multiple selections

No worries masseur. Ta for trying though.

ON another note:

I was playing about with my mates Vario II last night.

To my shock and embarassment, his VII was A LOT faster than my VIII. Quicker opening applications. Quicker on the net. Everything. Surely this cannot be right, can it?

My first VIII went back to T-Mobile as it was scratched. This one was quite slow too. My second one came, and this was just as slow as the first. So I doubt very much that I have a faulty handset (unless I am incredibly unlucky to get to dodgy pieces!!!)

If possible, can someone else please do a similar quick check if they have access to a VII.

Thanks

PS I do have Googlemaps installed on the phone. I dont know if this alone would slow things down???

in my experience (of any phone) the first firmware version performance is generally improved on the first firmware update.

I don't find this slow though I do believe it could be quicker

I doubt google maps being installed would have any impact. I have that and live search (with maps) and tomtom and resco file manager and quite a few other things installed on the memory card

Fingers crossed it is a firmware fix

Masseur where did you get all your software from mate?

I have a copy of tomtom 5 from my old SPV C600. Do you know if this would work with the VIII?

I really dont want to splash out money right now on tomtom 6.

I've read that tomtom 5 has some issues on WM6 so all I can suggest is to try it otherwise you'll need to pay for an upgrade

I get my stuff from pocketgear or handango or direct from the developer site
