dont talk rubbish. the "only" SE-phone with a seriuos joystick problem is the k750i. k800i have NOT that problem. (of course some phones got problems like all phones have), but the joystick on the k800i is moddified and much more stable. AND the k810 has even a newer joystick. if you read about k800 you se that is not so many problems with the joystick.
about failing joystick you should read about N73, its drops of for god sake on several phones.
ps. N93 must be the biggest phone ever made (fells like the first phone from the 80-). who in the hell want a phone who have that wieght and looks like a freak with a big lens on the top. (the only thing it can, is medium quality video recording).

The title of the thread says is SE failing in producing good phones? The simple answer is No.
They are producing phones that sell, that the operators want and that make money for them. I'm sure by now if they weren't producing good phones we would know about it.
Maybe for the operators, but for the people posting that is not the case

You continue with this: "fanboy" rant. You drone on and on with this. Are you impaired? So what if people are passionate about their phones. That doesn't make them necessarily fanboys. That makes them loyal customers that are willing to overlook blatant flaws in their particular brand of mobile phone. Others are willing to change and search for phones that fit their needs and who's loyalty is only to something that works for them. You have shown throughout this thread that you have a penchant for misrepresenting statements that people make and putting your own myopic twist on it.

@King and >500,
Both good points. I live in Helsinki, Finland currently and for the most part it appears that there are two camps with phones here. The new and early adopters and those that just are happy with something that allows them to talk, and send SMS. However, I recently returned from Kuwait where everyone down there had the latest and greatest. This was a great market for Nokia and a good market for SE. The bottom line is that many phone sales are market driven. Some people are quite happy with what works while others want the "works". In the end it is all subjective.

Good point!
Its not been SE's strategy to release high end phones. They said the year before last they would be going for growth and thats exaclty what they are doing and what they have acheived.
Unfortunately, some people are taking and twisting this and using it as an opportunity to make it sound SE are unable to produce high-end phones.
Its best that they take their time and got things right first time rather than rush out a phone full of bugs, issues and failings.
I'd rather choose a mid-tier handset anyday, over a high-end phone that turned out to be a heap of junk, we all know how damaging that can be to a company's reputation.

you should give it up dude. QVGA is eating your lunch. You make yourself look more and more silly with each post. It has nothing to do with your language but your complete lack of a coherent thought process.

Describe junk. There is not one phone that has been produced that was so flawless it has not to have some sort of upgrade. Yes, these new crop of phones have quirks, but answer this: would you be willing to wait a year or more until all the bugs were worked out? Survey says: NO! You would be on the front line complaining that companies are not releasing phones fast enough. You pay your money, you take your chances. I am sure SE and Nokia are aware of the problems and "crap" that they are producing but they have to make compromises to keep costs down and to meet ridiculously short and stupid time to market schedules. Customers demand new phones every 3 months. That means a conception to birth time frame of about 6 weeks to production. So you have an option, 90% reliable phones that get better with time, and reasonable prices or you can wait, complain and pay higher prices. many would choose the former. I can afford just about any phone produced but I am willing to compromise because I know there is no free lunch.
Just realized that this post looked like it was directed at only you (glodenface). I meant "you" plurally.

No worries.
I know exactly where you are coming from and good point about the early adopters.
I don't know why SE isn't pumping out high-end phones but as you say, early adopters run the risk of picking up a phone that will be bogged down with bugs and issues.
The P990i debacle was no doubt damaging for SE and is only now being resolved. However, if waiting for while for SE to release a phone relatively bug free then thats a price I'm prepared to pay - IF thats what the delay is.
Somehow I don't think it is. I just see SE at the moment as growing its mid-tier and bringing in money so it can develop the high end phones of the future, phones worth waiting for.
Some people think that just because SE hasn't launched its own N95 that its somehow a big failing. Why would it be? It has its own strategy. It dances to its own tune, nobody elses. If SE hasn't got the phone you want, shop elsewhere - simple pimple.

@ plankgatan,
You really are not making your points well at all and I'm afraid to describe the best video recording device with it's upgrade the N93i as only medium quality video recording is really funny when it is acknowledged as having the best VGA 30fps video recording of any device. Especially when you take into account that even SE's recently announced and coming soon devices still can't even get anywhere close to this now nearly 1 year old device.
Yes it is a large device but then again besides the excellent video recording it is also on of the only devices to have a 3.2 mega pixel camera with 3 x optical zoom and to be able to do this requires space. The camera may not be great in low level light but otherwise it is a very good camera indeed. I know as i had one and used it, so i am not relying on reviews written with either proto or very early firmware. It also has a 330mhz processor and a full version of the Power VR MBX graphics chip and not forgetting a 1500aMh Li-Polymer battery also. It may surprise you that put next to a P990 it is only slightly larger so not quite the beast you hope for either. You may not like or want it but to deny it's power and abilities is just pointless as these facts are not disputable.
Any one that states there are no problem with any of SE's released devices is simply not living in the real world and ignoring the facts, and i am not just talking about UIQ3 devices either just read this and all the other SE based forums for the complaints that are plain for all to see.
I have just seen the full review of the P1 over @Mobile Review that made for some very interesting reading as it looks like this will not start shipping till September at the earliest and does not offer that much improvement over the M600 in operating speed if any at all. This device is due to launch at a price of 650 euros which at today's rate is £440 and some change and the true P990 successor will not be arriving till early to mid 2008. So in answer to the question that was originally asked it appears that SE are indeed failing to deliver anywhere near enough good devices quickly enough at least for the high end of the market and more importantly giving their current customers what they want. Again just read all the things people want in their devices now not sometime in 2008.

Whilst i understand what you mean when you say
"Some people think that just because SE hasn't launched its own N95 that its somehow a big failing. Why would it be? It has its own strategy. It dances to its own tune, nobody elses. If SE hasn't got the phone you want, shop elsewhere - simple pimple."
and i agree SE shouldn't have to release a device to compete directly with the N95 or any other device for that matter. The problem is even the devices they have so far announced don't have new enough specs to satisfy there existing customers that want and expect things like EDGDE, HSDPA. VGA 30fps Video recording and all the other things on their wish lists.
Now if these were just breaking technologies that would be one thing but these are already established and in other devices just not currently SE's and the real problem is as you have stated at the end of your quote, people are starting to shop elsewhere. As most how ever loyal they may be to a brand are not stupid and will buy the device that gives them what they want they may prefer it from a certain manufacturer but won't wait for ever so while SE gains market share in the low - mid range devices it is starting to lose users that pay higher prices and generate greater profit from premium devices IMO. The UIQ3 devices turned more people to S60 last year than any other factor even the N95 has seen more people exposed to S60 then i expected and all because SE has had nothing to offer these users and more to the point still doesn't and won't have till 2008 if you are lucky.

like i said in another thread, the 'average' customer doesnt care about features, they want a phone that just works! some will buy because of a brand name, or just to be trendy.... i know everyone in my family doesnt care for super video or hsdpa or edge, they wouldnt even know what is barely (of course they know what video recording is though) ... for me though its different, we are members on phone forums and our interest in mobile phones is far greater than the average customer.... of course, we/you expect more.... having said that though, there has been a slight increase in the number of 'average' customers who want better specs now-a-days, but the number who dont care is still far greater.... so to some extent, your post could be incorrect...

that is neither a reason nor an excuse for not making high-end phones. i agree that most consumers dont care about those features but there's an alarming number of those who do, and the sales of N95 show that. |

I agree with what you say but as other devices appear with these specs and the Data market begins to grow more and more users will become aware of these things and not only expect but demand them.
But i do agree the majority of users still currently only want a phone that they can make calls from send SMS and maybe take a reasonable picture with but i really do believe this is starting to change as mobile Data is becoming affordable and the speeds mean the experience is no longer painful but enjoyable and offers real quality.
