I think as long as it's Pro Duo it should work perfectly, I have a 2gb and works perfectly. However I had a similar problem with a P910 and it was because of using Duo or Pro Duo card which I can remember now.

thanks for your replay but i have pro due and still having peoblems 
my phone was perfect but after i used the new memory stick all kinda of wierd things and messages apeared the phone is also restarting on its own alot now when using the 4gb memory stick |

I just purchased a Sony 4GB memory stick duo pro and have no problems with it in my P990i with the latest firmware R7a001.

yeah i also thinks that there is nothing wrong with the p990 since the memory stick started all of the problems i guess its currupted or something like that now i am looking for my camera to try the memory stick on it and see what will happen if it works well i will probably buy another one for my p990 :/ |

Robin I did what you said, I started hearing the news in Swedish, when I pressed full screen, the screen turned 90deg. and I got as full screen continunious news. No crashes, no white screen , no problems with mine ......
Maybe FW would help ? But I guess you already tried that

Can you try the Memorystick before you buy ? When I was buying my 2gb card, I asked the guy if it worked with my phone, (I was buying it for my P910 about 4 months ago) the guy on the counter guaranteed that it would work. So I told the guy, "since you are so sure about this, I will try this on my phone, if it didn't work, I will return it back", and he accepted it. Luckily I tried it and it worked.
By the way how much are you paying for for a 4gb memory stick ? I paid USD 65 which is about 36 Puonds for magicgate

there is a bug in the new menu bottom left if you have a moderate amount of entries in calendar the phone freezes if you try to use the new option to add an appointment. In fact the who calendar feature seems to start locking up if you try to add more than a couple of entries |

I think I found another bug
I have a NOKIA MMS Observation camera, when I set it up (when I'm not at home for example) this camera detects any motion and sends me a MMS message with pictures (.JPG) of the cause for the motion. It also works in complete darkness as it has a night vision camera. It also sends the current temperature and other information attached to the same MMS message.
So at the weekend I was out , and my camera started sending me pictures on my P990, when I check the pictures, all the pictures had errors and all I could see is green, blue, yellows lines on all pictures.
So when I went home, I restarted the camera , but the pictures were still faulty. So I tried with my P910 and pictures showed perfectly fine, I also forwarded the faulty pics to my P910, the forwarded faulty pictures were viewed correctly on the P910.
So this is clearly a fault with the viewer of P990 needs fixing.
Also: this camera also sends information attached to the MMS message such as Current Temp, images to be taken etc. These texts are shown as Square boxes on my P910 and P990 , but it's eligible with my P900, P800 and other make cell phones... So somehow P990 and P910 can't understand the text that Nokia is sending them...Strange huh ???????

another bug! when someone from my contact list call me, sometimes it doesn't show the name that is in my list. on my p910 all the contacts appear! does anyone has this bug too? |

I can confirm this bug with the latest firmware. It occurs when Contacts is too slow to start up in order to reveal the caller's name.

grrr i tried another memory stick and the phone started acting crazy again with messages asking to restart the phone >< and lots of restsrt on its on and its not even showing the files of the new memoery stick its showing the old files which used to be on the 4gb memory...
the phone never crashed on me before like this its only acting wierd with every new memory stick >< i guess i will have to do a master reset and format everything and start over
...Wish me luck :/

I have a SW ver R7A001
Video Calling problem - Calling a Nokia 6280 and N80
Signal Full Bar 3G network Ok
- Sound very very choppy cannot understand / Video quality OK (N80 side)- (p990 - N80)
- Cannot see any on Video (Nokia 6280 side) and sounce very very choppy
(N6280 - P990)
But on both phones I can see and hear N80 and N6280 very well with my P990
When the N80 and N6280 called each other both Video and audio was Ok
strange?!?!?!
My theory is P990 is transmitting at a higher RESOLUTION compared to Nokia that the 3G network is having a hard time decoding .
Since there are pictures also that i take at 2MPix which I cannot use as Wallpaper nor Contact Picture
can sony do something with this
ALSO 2:30min of using Video Call the P990 hangs!!!

Hi team,
I just found a very annoying bug on my P990... I already checked this with another P990 user and he has the same problem.
While in FO mode when I call certain numbers that require DTMF tones to be sent I can't bring up the virtual keyboard. What happens is that while the call is going on I press the space bar for a couple seconds to have virtual keyboard appear and it does appear but immediately dissapears terminating the call at the same time, but leaving the screen with the picture of the call as if it still were going on. This happens with some phone numbers only, but they are very popular 800 numbers that a lot of people use. The numbers I dialed are the AT&T calling card access number (1-888-426-2273) and American Express Travel (1-800-235-9426).
I suspenct this may happen with whole lot of other phone numbers. I have removed the flip from my phone, and this bug makes my phone useless since I dial a lot the AT&T access number.
Anybody else had this problem? Any ideas?
