Dear Friends,
I just got a reply from "Ask Nokia".
I was getting poor battery performence in 6630 because my phone was in Dual Mode(WCDMA+GSM). If I select GSM mode, I will get more battery peformence but It will disable 3G feature.

But friends, I wanna ask you, What is 3G feature? I have seen in some demo pics of N6630 in nokia.com, there is a "3G" symbol in top left corner of phone screen. But I am not getting that. Does this means that Airtel is not 3G enabled?

OK guys.Here it is

(I assume that you have activated AirtelLive. If not , please call Customer Care and ask them to activate it)

METHOD 1 : See my first post

METHOD 2 : This method gives you full gprs on your mobile in just a few steps
( Only works for mobiles which have the option for Streaming Settings)

1) Create two AirtelLive accounts on your mobile. Name them Airtel1 and Airtel2.

2) Select Airtel1 as the active profile.

3) Go to Streaming Settings under Connectivity ( or find something similar) and
select Airtel2 as the account to use.

4) Connect to AirtelLive. Click 'Videos & Live TV'. Click 'Live Streaming'. Click
either CNBC or Aaj Tak. You will either get connected and the video will play or
get an 'Unknown Media' error . It does not matter

5) Now you can access ANY site .The GPRS access on your mobile
will stay until you exit the browser.

METHOD 3 : This method is for those who cannot dial the second account from the PC and do not
have the option to configure the 'Streaming Settings'.

(You need a pc and the required connectivity tools to get this to work)

1) Create an AirtelLive account on your mobile.

2) Connect your mobile to the PC.

3) Create a new dial-up connection. The number to dial should be *99***1# (or use
extra initialization commands)

4) Connect to AirtelLive on your mobile.

5) Now, connect to the dial-up connection on your PC.

6) Once the connection is established, you can browse any site on your MOBILE.
You may even disconnect the connection on your PC. The GPRS access on your mobile
will stay until you exit the browser.

hey alan..thx 4 sharing ur experience dude...3g stands for 3rd generation phones with very fast data exchange rate..to put in simple terms ur 3g phone will have the ability to put u under teleconferencing & viewing live tv..most of the phones we use are either 2.5g & even 2g phones..edge is an advanced form of gprs and it can be acheived even in edge enabled 2.5 phones whereas 3g phones are unique kind of its own..if u note that in 6630 they mention it is wcdma enabled which is based on 3g..and if im not wrong airtel still has no feasibilty with 3g as it is very expensive & however as we all know they do provide only edge or egprs...& welcome back spartan...

Hi Alan,

Airtel will be launching 3G mobile services in Seychelles shortly.

As for us , I think we need to wait a little longer. So I think it is safe to disable 3g on your mobile for now, if it really does help your battery

hi everyone...
i hav a different method also for accessin all sites both on pc and cell (may b free coz i m not charged for it till now) on prepaid airtel
recently after 1st feb they hav blocked the proxy 100.1.200.16:80 but u know the flaws r always there in airtel servers...

i will only tell the method if anyone cud not get connection by spartan's method(s) (i.e, cud not dial to second account(*99***2#) and thus set modem initialization command AT+CGDCONT=2,ip,"" (u know what i mean).....(coz i can't dial to second account on my nokia 6020...reason, two accounts of gprs isn't supported in my phone simultaneously neither *99***2# ...so spartan's methods r not workin for me...)
if i tell it publicly without need, they will obviously block me...good work spartan really u r doin great ..and many applause for him( hey spartan i m just curious, how young u r....though i m not old too )
and
gd nite everyone

Oh that's great news.
I am happy that atleast you have a idea to access free GPRS. I am also not able to dial 2nd account in 6630 too(I'm now lucky, I have airtel online). So spartan's trick is not working for me. Anyways, spartan is a great guy and he is frequently trying to help us in this issue.
Thanks.

I am very unhappy also. Because,
When I try to download any softwares, i.e. exe files, I get following error.
Code:
Failed getting media.

Technical description:
Content error - the requested file was too large for conversion in the Gateway/Proxy.

Does anyone getting this?
