I read the 10 reasons for Android.
Which of them are really cruical for you guys?
As I see it it's all UI centric,
giving nothing to any function of the device.

Doministry - As per my post saying we should all cut SE and the X10 some slack, cos I think it looks pretty special.. None of them are "crucial" for me. From what we know in the rumour mill, much of what 2.0 and even 2.1 add, are already dealt with by what SE have added themselves. And yet more often than not people here seem to want to do them down for tinkering with the Soft/Firmware. However as I said, the Multi touch side of both the iPhone and other Apple products i.e. Macbook Pro, is more than a gimmick, it does genuinely add to the usability of the devic IMO of course.
Speech control, if done well could be handy, but I am happy with the voice dial on my C905 and HBH130 in the car, which is the only time I can imagine not feeling a Prat using it.
Surely having the latest version of the OS, so long as it is stable can only be a bonus. I agree tho it is certainly not a pre-requisite to me. So especially if anyone from SE is watching, fat chance..I Want this phone!
Cheers

@doministry
Well none are really crucial to me. The way I see it is what the X10 is giving us is an Android device with which we don't have to compromise (too much) on the hardware - great camera, fast processor, great screen and a great design.
Hardware wise its ahead of the pack because buyers of competing phones can not upgrade to similar hardware specs without purchasing a whole new device.
With the X10, the hardware is already there, with a good possibility of an OS update in the future.
Updating your hardware costs money, updating your software will cost hardly anything.
IMO - even without the update, the X10 can still hold it's own

The only way a device can destabilize the X10 from its current position is with HD recording. The X10 is the best looking Android handset yet announced. SE have done a double take by releasing the Vivaz alongside it. |

Yeah, it's definitely a good move releasing a Vivaz at around the same time.
There will soon be two high end S60 devices and more Android to accompany the X10 (we'll see which after MWC - which is creeping up on us rather quickly ).
Will there be special accessories for the X10 - the 4" screen will make watching videos easier so something similar to that Satio movie clip thing would be handy.

X10 is definitely one of the devices to have for this year but SE has to complete the package. They have to add 720p HD recording (at 30 fps with continuous auto-focus). If they do, X10 will be untouchable. |

se_dude + Goldenface, too right.
The reason that I have had SE devices is not because I like/try to support SE per se, just that I have found them to be the best in terms of usability etc.
As I said earlier the delay of the C905 coming to Orange as my K800 was on it's last legs, drove me to an N82, prior to that I did dabble with an original RAZR. Neither of these came close to any of the SE devices I have had for eas or enjoyment of use.
The X10 is the first phone that I've been excited about in ages, and that's not because it is an SE device. It is because as far as I can see this could and should be the best overall convergent device yet. Android looks to be a really solid OS now, quickly establishing itself and improving; the camera is at least as good as my C905, widely acknowledged as being top draw and the SE UI looks to be the cherry on the cake. Hopefully the Android OS will evolve with the phone but, I am looking forward to it, straight out of the box. |

@rss- Its not possible for SE to provide HD recording in their Android offing yet. HD is a new to their portfolio and they would want one of the lesser hyped devices to get it rather than the overhyped X0.Say if the X10 has HD, who would buy the vivaz? People would rather save a few bucks and buy the X10.Also, the price will catapult and will hurt SE in the long run. |

No. It's the same as upgrading Satio from Symbian S60 to Symbian^2. It just won't happen.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand... Mediar's Site |

Well could 720p be added as a mod, like on a rooted device, like there was one for the iphone.

Yes.if the sensor supports recording in HD.Why not.
And btw, Satio is as eligible to be updated to Symbian^2 as any handset that comes to mind. |

sorry my bad,the iphone never actually got the 720p recording, it was only an assumption. Btw will it be possible to use the audio jack as a tv-out? also does anyone know whether the X10 records at a constant 30fps or is it between 24 and 30fps

To se_dude: Vivaz anD X10 are two unique devices. They appeal to different customers whether if both have HD recording. The X10 sports an elegant design but might be too big for others while Vivaz is more pocket friendly and funky. The fate of this two phones depend on how people will know about them and of course the software stability. |
