K800 Firmware Overview |

Just upgraded from Orange firmware to R1EG001 via Wotan.
Previously, email couldn't be sent via Orange's smtp server with a non-Orange from address, apparently because the email client always wanted to authenticate with the server even though no username or password.
With this firmware, I can.
Also there were a few irritances with Opera Mini before which are gone now (always wanting to write in ALLCAPS and no Sentence Case; couldn't use Google search on homepage because softkey options to allow internet connections would be disabled).

You got that right. The longest part of the whole thing was waiting for my credit to come from them.

N82(YES), iPhone 3G, Shure es530, Nikon D300, more stuff. No more SE stuff, why am I still here? |

Not if you don't want the vanilla SE firmware. I prefer the Voda branding and don't want to lose it. So I'll patiently wait for an update. As it is I don't have any problems that stop me using it on a daily basis so I'll just wait. No rush here... |

This morning I have updated my phone to R1ED001 straight from my K800 and am now very sossry that I've done it since I cant make/answer calls anymore. When I try to make calls I can only hear the two tone sound which attributes to no network coverage. SMS may be send/received but sometimes an icon saying "no network connection, try again" pops-up when I try to send sms. When I receive calls I can her the ring and see who is calling me but when I press "answer" nothing happens, but when I press busy it sends busy signal. PLEASE HELP as I am really frustrated with this... |

From R1C*, Orange version.
Possibly these issues were already fixed in R1ED but I've seen no specific mention of fixes to SMTP authentication or text input in Java apps. |

JAVA text input has been mentioned as fixed...
It's listed on the front page under bug fixes for R1ED001 :
- Java applications can now switch between Aa, A and a rather than just A and a.

HA!, I have a k790a with firmware R1EG001 and this bug hasn't been fixed, I'm thinking that the firmwares are not equivalent. Can anyone else confirm this? I tried it using Google local.

I had the Vodafone branding and hated it so used Wotan to debrand. I didnt realise that Vodafone also added the Green and Red phone keys as part of the branding and losing this took a lot of getting used to. Those keys are all that i would have kept of the branding. If anybody knows of a way of restoring them without the rest of the rubbish let me know.

Just a quick question, I have SE K800 will updating my software via wotan invalidate my warranty? Or will it be same as if I'd updated using SEUS? |

| My understanding is that an update via Wotanserver would invalidate the warranty as it isn't an official SE service (whereas a SEUS one obviously wouldn't). Of course whether SE would be too strict in sticking to this if you had a problem with your phone is perhaps a different matter.
