@dexterc, you can transfer via Ir as long as it is not FIR (dapat SIR, check your BIOS) and set the speed to 19.2K or lower depending on the O/S. Cable is sure shot, hassle free.

@JWblue: Thanks for the observation. It's only happened once. I'll try to watch it more closely. Did you upgrade to the Euro version? |

this is my explanation of the infamous sms id problem...
upon receipt of a new sms, the phone will try to "tag" the sms with a name if it sees a match in the phonebook. if this tagging is "disturbed" for some reason, it won't be able to complete the tag hence, you just get a number.
which means, the sms messages in your inbox have been "altered" by the phone due to the tagging. the message itself is not modified but the header was (which is the replacement of the number by the corresponding name).
to prove the point, on known sms messages where a name is displayed, delete the phonebook entry. go back to sms inbox and you will still see the name, not the number. you will wonder, hey it's not on my contact list! but it was already tagged earlier, before the contact info was removed.
to "disturb" the tagging is quite a challenge, so it does not happen most of the time. i have to ask a friend to waste his sms allocation for me to get an intentional "untagged" sms.
i hope you guys/gals understood what the hell i'm talking about.
P.S. please post your comments about this issue here http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=5896&forum=2&0 and in english please, because i want to share it with other esato forumers.

@arnoldc: good theory would you call this problem a 'bug'? and if ever, can an upgrade, if available cure it? |
dan47 Joined: Feb 14, 2002 Posts: 339 PM |
i guess no upgrading will do the trick, maybe enter all the names and nos. manually.... somehow the simcard memory put a tag on the name.. like ¿. coz when u save phonebk to the simcard, it sends out the "mobile, home, work, others" to the sim. now, u got the upgrade, u tend to copy from sim to your phonebk.. including the tag. as you know, my simcard has no no. in it.. i sync using t39 .. and sync back kaya siguro no prob.... siguro

@fxyvxn, to me it is a bug because the process is being disrupted. it could be fixed if they want to or probably they don't know about it yet They = SE |
