Re: Corrupt files.

I've tried it on another memory stick and still got the same probs. I've not tested it on internal memory, as I thought the whole idea of having a MS slot was for photo/video storage?
Maybe it is a MS slot problem, but it seems strange that this only started when I upgraded to R1N. Maybe it's the way the firmware caused the phone to talk to the MS card?
As for the already corrupted pics/vids, they are still the same size, but information reveals their resolution to be 0x0, and no matter of file tranferring can bring them back from the dead.
ALSO, video playback of own recorded videos, although better quality, jerks every second.
I've emailed SE, so I'll await my standard, robotic reply.

Now just need someone to test a R1N. I am pretty sure that jbenchmark is just misreading the color values as a downgrade from 252K to 65K would be more visable I am sure.

Videos are playing smooth as ever on my K750 with R1N035
Blocky fullscreen has nothing to do with firmware, but with the fact that video resolution is encoded in 176x144 pixels while fullscreen is 220x176 pixels, the videoresolution are simply upscaled which cause the slight blockiness. This will never change.

If your videos cannot play fullscreen without jerkiness and even fail to play, then they are not encoded according to proper standards. Did you encode them yourself or are they downloaded ?

That sounds really bad, I dont beleive it has anything to do with firmware, but more likely with a ms slot hardware problem. The fact that it started after firmwareupdate is a coinsidence

For all of those outhere that have branded /locked O2 phones unable to update at the moment there is a somewhat sketchy bit of news...

I e-mailed SE asking about this R1N035 update from R1L002 and what problems I am curently experiencing with the current f/w... (long List)

theire reply as follows:

Quote:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry,

The Update Service for the phone will be available soon. We are currently updating the website. Thank you for your patience.

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again for further help and support.

So wilst there is still no timeframe to this full implementation this answers the question some of us have been asking... -It is coming...

I feel gutted that that was all I got from SE support but after all theire just support and not meant to be that helpfull....

Thats my 1 cent worth on that one.... And just for the record the cable is plugged in and Im trying as we speak... and I guess I have to wait for thye freakin phone to charge....

Be back to report...

Later

Yup I guess so. Its a bit odd. But another reason may be that it is only testing java applications and those arent running with full colors. jbenchmark maybe not be testing the phones full capabilities, if that makes sense. I dont know though as I only downloaded jbenchmark about an hour ago and havent really looked into that much.

I dont think you misread the figures but it is on the 65K mark but I wonder as Im sure you do wher the remaining 200k went...

Or maybe your right and I should get a bliffter rolling... Only way to be normal.... For me at least... [addsig]

@numb your right, i had forgotten about the resolution, i had read somewhere about 220x176 being the correct resolution for fullscreen but forgot, the videos i did myself and encoded at 176x144, thats that solved thanks, as for the jerkiness, i did encode them myself and some of the higher quality vids arent to specs but it fails to explain why with R1L the videos played fine and a hell of a lot smoother than they do with R1N, they play now off the phone memory worse than they did with R1L using the memory card i just hoped they would play fullscreen without blockiness with R1N but as you rightly pointed out, the resolution i encoded at is not correct for full screen. Ive just tried to get creative with seus to roll back and now have ended up with a half breed phone, it has R1L firmware and R1N customisations with camera v4.5 according to the service info, vids still jerky tho lol :-S thinking i should have left well alone

@mr_ppp

It's a shame that it is not possible lke you do with games to pick the screen size....

What I mean is if this were possible with videos would it still be jerky if choosing a 176x144 instead of letting the phone stretch the Video?

On another note I have converted 22MB videos to 3gp using Multimedia converter pro 2.0 and they play perfectly as they would on PC only at the smaller scale of course...

About the jbenchmark 65536 color readouts

People please stop inventing problems that doesnt exist because of lack of knowledge.

Colors of the K750 has not been changed and firmware has nothing to do with it.

jbenchmark allways show 65536 colors on every phone with 65536 colors and above, simply because its a java test, and the javamicroedition profile/platform do not support 262k colors. The max supported colors in the j2me are 65536 colors.

It has nothing to do with the number of colors the phone can display in all other situations.

go to the jbenchmark site and view all the results for other phones also with 262k colors, they all read 65536 colors in the jbenchmark test.

heres an example using samsung D600

Hey - SEUS message

"Uh oh!
Sony Ericsson makes attractive mobile phones and mobile phone accessories, and develops powerful mobile computing technology.

Unfortunately, the server encountered an internal error and could not complete your request. Please check that you typed the address (URL) correctly."

I would suggest one of these statements is not true. Can we vote which one it is?

Just because someone doesnt know something it doest mean they cant learn it....

human nature makes all of us a bit like that, some are better controlled and seek that knowledge B4 speaking some just put theire theories in front of all reason or knowledge.

This is why Forums exist

People that have that knowlege help others without it and in turn these now hopefully pass that aquired knowlege down the line...

This is one of the fundaments of the www.

but of course I dont have to say this really... It is common sense....

But why am I going on....

I forgot.

@Leviath

you can pick screen size with games with your k750? or am i misunderstanding what you mean? i only had super tennis with mine and it uses the entire screen but still in the same orientation as the vids when not in fullscreen mode, there arent any options to change it with that, well that i can see anyway, considering how blocky fullscreen video is i really can't understand why se put a fullscreen mode in at all if, hurts my eyes to use it, if im not getting it, someone please correct me, but i really thought the blockiness could be fixed, if not then fullscreen mode is a waste of time imho, an option not to stretch i think possibly might stop jerkiness, my vids always seemed slightly jerkier in fullscreen mode, im getting a headache just thinking about resolutions and what not now lol
