Yeah true. Seems a bit weird to replace a candybar with a slider, but I suppose they don't have a lot of choice. I wonder if they would bring the C901 in. I know it's only supposed to come out in Denmark or something, but it could happen.
BTW: B+W are doing some decent deals on phones. It might be worth looking into becoming a member just to get cheaper phones, then use them on other networks. For example, you save $160 on the W715 over the Vodafone price. They have no contracts so they can't take the phone off you.

It's called 2degrees and is the brand that NZ Communications revealed at a media launch in Auckland this morning. With more than 300 cell sites installed and $250 million spent, the company says its network will be going live sometime in August.
The network will be initially only be available in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. However, a roaming agreement with Vodafone means 2degrees customer will be able to make and receive calls throughout the rest of the county.

That's actually a pretty nice name. Don't know what it means (didn't read the article as I'm at work) but I saw they have a good looking logo. |

AFAIK they take the original price, and times it by 2.
Also, it is out of stock (aka they don't have it yet)

I going to PM Masseur to change the title of the thread 'Vodafone vs Telecom - The great New Zealand telecommunications battle' to 'The great New Zealand telecommunications battle' to reflect this. Any objections before I press the button? |

maybe it should also be moved to the network operators section?

Good point, I'll mention that.
Edit: Thread has been renamed and moved - thanks Masseur.

Well I was lucky enough today to have a go on a C510 in the Vodafone shop in my local mall. I have to say it is looking damn good! The phone feels great, good build quality, and the 2.2" screen on such a small phone seems really quite big! I guess the 2.0" on my C902 also makes it seem big but hey.
And the Vodafone branding, for the first time in my life, I must say looks awesome. The wallpaper is a neat little animation that's bright and colourful, and the menu has one of the nicest looking flash menus I have ever seen. And this is in the Vodafone theme as far as I know! Amazing.
I was also able to have a look at an X1 dummy, and that really surprised me. It is actually a very small phone, despite what it looks like in pictures. The buttons on the keypad are very very small but still useable. Overall it felt very high quality, and I only wish it was a real one to try out! |

The spec on that C510 is looking very good. Another contender for most under-rated phone perhaps?
Unfortunatly I had a go on a W715 in a Voda store yesterday.
I say unfortunately because now my life won't be complete without one and I can't afford it ATM. It was awesome! Everthing I expected and more. The screen is great to look at and the menus are way faster than an iPhone. Hmm... Where can I find $799?
On a different note, XT sims will be available on May 29 but data plans will be announced before that.

@carkitter: I forgot to mention I also went into a Telecom store where the had a W705 dummy. I guess that may be an option for you when it's released, and it may even be cheaper. It remains to be seen how much Telecom are going to brand their XT phones, if at all.
