I too have found I like the K800 more each day. When I first opened the box I thought it was large, thick, heavy with minimal feature improvements.
As time has passed I now think it is almost flawless versus the competition.
SE's next generation of phones should theoretically be almost perfect.
By the way, I am currently doing a battery life test on K800 (3G vs 2G). At the moment I am on 2G mode and battery life stands at 39% after 90hours of moderate usage (few pics, 20mins music, 5mins calls, 50 texts ---per day).
This is clearly an impressive result so far, I will make a new thread on the issue once my findings are complete. |

@max_wedge - I completely disagree with your last statement regarding cost and reasons for making the M2. IF Sony didn't make ALOT of money off their Memory products, they would have Never gotten into the Flash Memory business, because at the time they announced the original Memory Stick, there were no less than 3 ESTABLISHED flash memory standards on the market - Compact Flash, MMC (which lead ot SD at the same time or a little after Sony's announcement) and Smart Media. When I say Established, I mean that MOST devices with removable memory used one of these standards so there was Absolutely no need to create another standard... except to capitalize on the sales of the media. As a standard is conserned, Sony has been close to the Worst in staying consistent - Compact Flash has pretty much NOT changed since it it's original design - as a scaled down version of the PCMCIA Flash memory card. MMC more or less resulted in the creation of SD which until just a couple of months has been the Same media and devices that use SD have been backwards compatible with MMC memory. SONY on the other hand has released no less than 4 versions - Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Pro Duo and now the M2.
Sony makes these things because they have Huge margin and the make alot of money on them. The reason they were behind on the miniturisation of the MS to M2 is because they were behind the entire Flash memory market when they came out - MMC lead to SD which led to MiniSD which Led to TF/MicroSD. MMC was out first so the follow ups were out first.
Why do you think Olympus made the xD standard? Because there weren't enough others on the market? NO. They did it for the same reason - to make money on the memory card sales. |

@marineking: You're probably right - We don't all get what we want and its seemingly the best phone out there for its market. I'll bite the bullet and get one. Also it'll be nice to stop Orange customer services from phoning me every day pestering me about the end of my contract.

Have had my K800 for nearly a week now, and just wanted to share some things I love about it, for the fans and cynics alike.
I love:
The choice to disable the Flight Mode prompt on startup. I'm glad SE recognise that not everyone will want to use this feature all of the time. I do wish that it were easier to switch into this mode (without restarting the phone) and the same for USB file transfer mode. A time-consuming annoyance.
No bouncing menu. I always felt like my K750 was rushing me to make a selection the way it bounced the icons around the way it did, but no more on the K800!
Real multi-tasking. At first I thought this was just running a few games at a time, but I am pleased to learn that it also can mean running messages in the background and more.
Photo DJ. Finally this program is no longer a poor excuse for an image composer. It takes care of your basic Photoshop functions, and I love it's a bility to find and correct red-eye without any input on my behalf!
Of course these are only a few that I've come up with on the spot now, and not including the 'goes without saying' features, such as large screen, GUI, etc. I like to focus on the less mainstream improvements. Cheers!

Got my k800 the other day and I too have been experiencing this problem with the radio.
I have found no consistancey in when it happens, it starts for a minute of two, then stops. Its extremely frustrating as well.
I have tried turning it on and off but it seems to do nothing at all!

Was sceptical when the K800i first came out. Cos to me it's only some minor upgrades over the K750i.
Boy was I wrong! I'm loving the K800i more and more with each passing day! Everything about it, including all the minor improvements really makes the phone a really great phone to use! One thing I miss though, is MegaBass.
Can it be solved with a firmware upgrade?

the K800i is wicked =D one thing i'm starting to hate is how M2 only goes up to 1GB, it's not enough. I found this phone so much better than my old Motorola V635! it has a great UI and i can install so many more applications and games on this phone! (well i could on the V635 as well, but it required alot of work, such as modding the FW on the phone first, and then add the program 'java uploader' etc.) |
