I agree, you could go swimming in petrol while on a call on your mobile and you wouldnt cause fire. |

...I was in the public gallery of the Auckland High Court to hear Vodafone's evidence against Telecom. I had to leave at lunch time because I had an afternoon lecture but might go back tomorrow for the verdict. |

Yeah apparently the say no mobile phones on the forecourt because of the risk of explosion if your cell phone was to spark! When have you ever seen a mobile phone cause a spark (when it's not in the microwave)?!
If health and safety was a real concern, people would not be allowed to put petrol into cars at all given that the most common cause of forecourt explosion is static discharge from getting out of your car and then touching the fuel filler door!

I just received a call from Black+White... Did anyone else get a call? Basically they were calling to ask me what I was currently spending on Vodafone to see whether they could offer me anything better.
They couldn't. And to be honest, the 'wholesaling Vodafone's network' thing doesn't sound like it's going to pay off for them. Their plans that the guy mentioned to me went along the lines of $30 for 30 minutes of calling and your choice of TXT2000 (VF to VF) or 600 texts per month to any mobile. Sounds exactly the same as the plan I was on a few years ago, which by the way was crap.
The only chance they have of sticking around for a bit is if the whole 'on a plan but not on a contract' thing takes off. But really, does anyone care that much?

I think they should try a business model closer to the UK with free phones and 12/18 month terms. Their current low price plans aren't good value.

Not really. TV1/TV3's slant on this type of stuff doesn't interest me. Radio New Zealand National does a better job of covering delicate situations like this. |

But in a way it's kind of funny. Most places in the world this wouldn't even make the evening news.

Just noticed the C902 is no longer on the Vodafone online store. I wonder what will replace it, if anything. C905 perhaps?
