I think i will be sticking with DM 3.5 for now, since I seem to be the only one posting low light comparison shots, and I do not see any low light picture improvement in 3.8 beta over 3.5, and nobody seems to be able to explain how to use the new features in DM3.8 to take better low light shots.
Here is one more indoor shot... DM3.5 twilight portrait - all AUTO.

@jake20
try the manual shutter speed function on dm 3.8 for lowlight shot.
technically the slower the shutter speed close, the more light will come to the sensor and vice versa. In lowlight condition, you might want to crank up the EV setting up to +2.0. Don't forget to use tripod or put the camera in steady surface otherwise you may get blur picture. If not possible, try to crank up the ISO setting to 200 or up and re-adjust the shutter speed setting accordingly. I would suggest to set the ISO to 100 as you may get less noise. Remember the higher the ISO, the more sensitive camera sensor to the light.
Recommended setting for lowlight:
Normal - twilight landscape - ISO 100 - 8MP - Shutter speed EV+ - Tripod - Color correction - Focus EV+ (for Macro)
Hope helps....

thanks fe1ixs, i appreciate the tips!
I had thought that the manual shutter speed was not working correctly on DM 3.8.
To be clear again... I should select shutter speed from the menu in DM3.8, then change the EV value down to a negative value in order to lower the shutter speed?
is this correct?
EDIT: When i use a negative EV value for shutter speed, the picture goes completely dark.
thanks again

Shutter speed is working fine, just can't remember the setting if you turn off and turn back on the camera.
No is not correct. If you lower down the EV under shutter speed setting, the speed will be adjusted faster, hence the less light coming to the sensor. you have to adjust the EV value up to allow more light coming (for low light condition).

@fe1ixs
Thank you!!!
finally someone who has explained how to use the settings!
Ok, i just took this picture now with DM3.8, indoor nightime, low lighting. ISO200 with shutter speed cranked up to EV+2.0
Exposure time for this picture shows as 1/5 sec.. If i have the shutter speed setting cranked up to EV+2.0, shouldnt I get a slower shutter speed than 1/5 sec?

i am starting to like DM 3.8 more...
I would of never thought a cell phone camera could take a picture like this.. at night, no flash, in semi-low lighting, and come out so good.
This camera on the C905 is truly great.. and with DM & the other modders here, its better than any point and shoot digicam i have ever owned..

the best way to experience shutter speed lesson is by playing with it. Just play with the setting for a moment and see if you set the EV down/up, it will make the picture darker or brighter.
Shutter speed not only able to adjust the light, but also can create some artistic light effect for moving object for ex : car light.
Now to answer your question. I think 1/5 sec probably the lowest speed setting this camera can get. try to adjust to -1 and see what is the exposure time gonna be.

yes the shutter speed is fine but sometimes it has bugs
try using the focus in low light pictures too
@jake
i think the lens is fine as well as the stand,
i'm going to post some night pics using DM 3.8

@wahehe15:
probably you right. shutter speed still has some bugs.
@jake20: the bugs might explain why the picture turn dark when you adjust to negative.
at first I was thought it is normal... well sometimes it does; it turn into darker gradually.
but in several occasion, I also noticed the camera act strange.

DM3.8..shutter speed 1/2 sec!
ISO 200
again, this is low light, indoor night, no flash.. DM3.8 is the best i think!

I'm sorry pals...
For my bad English,I'm afraid I can't explain very clearly.When I took those pics,I use auto mode and metering mode is spot.In white balance,I chose shutter speed.Iso is 100.So I could change shutter speed manually by EV + or EV -.The tip:
Open the lens cover facing the light source,then you can get the correct white balance.You can +EV to get slower shutter speed and less noise.

@rajac
I rarely use spot metering. I might try that later. Usually spot metering used if the bright and dark area on the object is contrast or background is too bright. normal metering on this condition will cause the light sensor confuse and make the object dark.
@jake20
congratulation. it was a great shot!
@pinguin
I agree DM 3.8 still better than Vit combo driver especially the vibrant and color result.
@buba_SE
those pictures are great too. I think DM 3.5 and 3.8 comparable in result. 3.8 probably more flexible under certain condition.
